SMAXZO Amen that. Seriously, if I see yet another "would-be remake" only aimed at wowing the shallow viewers (and raping my youth) or a "really real gritty emo people die like flies while the pilot broods when he should have saved them" I'm gonna puke. What's so wrong in having a flashy-cool multicolored tower of awesomeness or even just something like the old classics?
@SMAXZO
9 жыл бұрын
alarkhar Because we got to have some buzzkills who say "Oh, there's no way a 10 year old pilot a giant robot without being an ass about it" and crap like that. It's all deconstruction this and deconstruction that. Screw that crap. Everytime I see a Super Robot deconstruction, I see someone peeing on my youth while flipping me the bird. Consider this, we will never have a follow up to Shin Mazinger, a fun series that celebrated the works of Go Nagai....but a series with an emo main character? More sequels on the way.

You know, Van may have thrown the Pink Amigo, but it flew and docked with the El Dorado on it's own. It just needed that initial help, but it still carried the spirit of Chizuru with it. But yea, this fight, this entire scene. I can't watch without getting a little teary eyed, especially around the time she starts the song. Mecha anime always tends to have some part that does things like that to me.

@@rexlumontad5644I think that's a little too modern thinking where to help they NEED to be in the front line. But Yukiko explains it best when she's making a meal, at the end of the day when the battle is victorious a fresh warm meal will be waiting. She is needed and nobody on the team berates her for not being a fighter, they all respect her.

This is exactly the reason why I love the mecha genre. At first glance, it's cool. Deep down, it's touching. Ahh, this scene is epic.
I love how more thought was put into this sequence. It feels like they were the heroes of an older mecha anime that the studio had pulled out of their vaults for a cameo.

That would certainly be a badass comic, but it would have one of two endings: One where they save the day, as normal, and one where they all sacrifice themselves to save said day. "Listen here, partner. Despite how young I might look, we're aging away. Even if we survive, all of us have about a decade left. Our time has passed... and we've borrowed enough. I've lived my life with no regrets. And I'll finish it with none, either. For the sake of the next generation's future, to pass on our legacy as heroes... *We will strike you down, at any cost!* "

As much as I love this series, this is by far my favorite episode. For what it stands for. These guys just shells of their former selves picked on and ridiculed by the younger ones are the town but when the chips are down and they were needed. They got up and walked out there without a second hesitation. As long as they can protect these people that was enough true heroes. This is also the episode that got me back into Power Rangers. I fell off a long time ago and I thought watching this that it reminded me so much I thought the writer of this episode was a power rangers fan. I didn’t know at the time that super sentai existed lol

Go watch Combattler V and Voltes V sometime if you can, the team dynamic of Nero and co is very much echoing their legacy, and Super Sentai echoes a lot of the same dynamics, Tokusatsu, Mecha, and Magical Girl shows all have a strong shared narrative genre and lineage

when my friends ask me why do i like mecha shows i show them this video not because gunxsword is my fav anime (which it isn't btw) but because the old men's fight is inspirational and it embodies the spirit of super robots (the super robot tamashii or hagane no tamashii if u catch the joke ; ) ) and the part that represent this idea the most imo is when the "second in command" says: "we cannot lose" and nelo answer "yeah, just the usual thing" it is a beautiful scene
