Great job and great collab! Man, this burger challenge had lots of bread! In contrast to the say the Weekend Burger 5x5 which of course you and I did, which has more meat than bread. I’d love to try this particular challenge and the many challenge in Texas if I ever have a chance to go back, as haven’t been to Texas since I was 12,

@@MackB40 Thanks Mack! Texas has a number of great challenges. This is one of the best tasting, but certainly a difficult one. Less than 5% success. Of those that have finished, they are all pros or amazing KZitemr eaters. Since you haven’t been here since you were 12, it sounds like it’s time for you to come back to Texas for a visit.

@@OldGuyEats Yeah, looking at many challenges, it’s the bread that’s sometimes the difference makers and yeah for this one, wish they had the bun thinner or smaller for you as you were so close. When I ever get to Texas again, I’m doing some challenges for sure and I’ll keep you posted if I do as y’all have so many good ones and Texas is awesome and I’m definitely going back one day. Yeah, when you get to visit Kentucky (again, if you’ve been before), definitely don’t miss Weekend Burger as they are the best burgers in the state and in my top five of all time I’ve had. That 5x5 (five burgers with five patties each with cheese, lettuce, tomato’s and their special sauce) that you saw in Eli’s recent vid, I also tried it a few days after he did and did it in 28 min 51 seconds just in time. Looking forward to catching up on all your other food vids!

Definitely a lot of bread, but at least the burger was cooked and seasoned well! I always used to put jalapeños on my burgers growing up-not so much lately, but maybe I’ll start doing it again. Either way, glad you enjoyed the meal-now you’ve got me hankering to find a new big burger challenge around here!! 😂
@OldGuyEats

I love jalapeños on my burgers. Definitely should start adding them again. And, I definitely enjoyed this. At some point, I’ll need to try once again for redemption. Next time you are in Dallas, you know where to go. Just let them know 24 hrs in advance. They have 2 locations. 👍

That was a big burger! And that bun? Man… this looked tough! No wonder the time limit was an hour. Well, you didn’t get redemption, but you gave it your all. And you got to enjoy one of the best burgers you ever had, cooked just to your liking, alongside a great Guy Named Eli, so I think you’re a winner. And you didn’t even have to eat the worst part 😜. Good effort and good luck if you decide to rematch!

Yeah.. this bun is a beast. It is definitely the hardest part of the challenge. Everything is delicious though. Because of how good it was, I certainly didn’t mind trying again. I knew what I was getting into. This just gives me the opportunity to try again sometime. Eli killed it; however, he too said this was probably the toughest burger challenge he’s done due to the bun. I always enjoy your feedback. Take care! 👊👍

Chris, I was there this past Friday with my son Ben and they were updating the Chalk board. 17-310 I had a burger, orings, those truffel parm fries. Delicious! They said their most recent winner was dunking the top bun in water and finished in 30 something minutes. I am down for this challenge.

Wow! I bet the board hadn’t been updated since before Eli and I. The week before we were there, it was beaten by a couple others; however, their photos weren’t up yet. Pretty cool. I’m certainly impressed. They may have been dunking their buns, because Eli and I didn’t. Eli beat them by a minute our more. I’ll do it again sometime. Don’t know when I’ll be there next though.

Hey Eli you ever thought about flipping your burger upside down when you get it and you have a really tough bun and eating the bottom bun that's already wet for the juices and letting them soak down the other way as you eat into the other buns so it's soaked up again??? I just thought of that
@OldGuyEats

Now that's a proper bun. I think I would have just picked that up and started chewing! I remember Chestnut and Sudo doing a similar burger and Joey kept making fun of her for not just eating it like a normal burger... maybe that's what Eli commented about at 5:00. next time you pour a cup of water on that bun at the start and treat it like a nathans bun :P Don't wear out the jaw trying to be civilized!
@OldGuyEats
2 ай бұрын
Yes, Joey eating it like a normal burger is what Eli was talking about. I’m not sure how he did that, it was huge. My mouth isn’t that big. As for treating it like Nathan’s and pouring water on it… that’s the reason I have never done a hotdog contest. I don’t like water logged soggy bread so I don’t dunk anything. I’d rather not do as well and keep my food tasting good. I really need to thin through a better strategy before trying this again. 👍

He’s not getting fat, it’s a lot of food in him. This was his 5th day in a row of food challenges. I know my limits and couldn’t do anything like that if I wanted a chance to beat them. Now that his tour is over, he’ll likely take several weeks off from challenges. As for me… thank you! 🙏. I track what I eat and the calories/nutrition, including the challenges. I realize some of it’s an estimate, but I track everything to ensure my calories in vs calories burned balance each week. It’s definitely discipline eating healthy and light in between challenges and exercising for 1 - 1.5 hrs every day! It’s definitely worth it though, I enjoy the food too much and enjoy the exercise too.
