Can you one day explain from bjj what's good for MMA? Or jiu jitsu? I have trained at bjj gym and that was like 90 percent on the ground. When I've gone to MMA gyms with bjj where no one really calls it bjj and there's like 33 percent stand up. So I would really like to know what from bjj is good for MMA?

Too many positions on bottom that put you at risk for damage. Its better to be on top. Which in that case wrestling is ideal cause youll have the agression and top priority. The thing is that you have elite level wrestlers that just have to use basic BJJ to surviveor escape submissions. Its harder to learn a wreslung pedigree than to get decent at BJJ. On top of that theres a lot of shit level BJJ in the UFC. So many blue and purple belts. Or celebrity belts like Adesanya whose ground game is trash but is a purple belt somehow. 🤔

Craig’s great. Super funny. But he doesn’t get Colby’s game. It’s not about keeping you down. It’s about taking you down & making you work to get back up, all the while peppering you with shots. And on the feet it’s relentless pressure, once again peppering you with shots. He has the cardio to do that for 5 rounds, & he knows that each round he keeps doing it his opponent withers more & more. As a guy without a gas tank I thought Craig would understand this threat. Colby melts Leon. Probably wins by decision but it’s a complete beating from round 3 on (at the latest).

If Izzy has such great takedown defense, why did he get muscled to the floor by a kickboxer in Alex. Even Marvin took him down. Dricus is a waaay better wrestler, and stronger, than both of them. It seems to me that his takedown defense has only looked great against Robert, who is and oversized welterweight.

The question isnt can Izzy get taken down, of course it happens a lot. It is what you do to Izzy on the ground? Submit him? No one ha. Gnp and hold him down? Only Jan has done it (25 pounds heavier,) not whittaker, vettori or Alex.

There really is a discussion that needs to be had about the scoring criteria in MMA...I was pretty surprised to hear Craig say that he thought Pantoja won that fight. It is not just a fluke that one of the top judges they have in MMA...Ben Cartilidge...scored that fight 4 rounds to 1 for Moreno. Pantoja did zero damage with the control time he had...and there were basically zero sub attempts depending on your definition of an attempt. Iirc in round 4 with top half guard he "attempted" a head and arm very briefly and got swept immediately because of it. If you look at the overall control time of the fight...I think they only had Pantoja with less than 2:00 of total control time for the entire fight. The key is the damage that was done...based on the scoring criteria...and after watching the fight for a third time today...Moreno should have won that fight. Pantoja just never threatened any subs and definitely didn't do any damage with strikes while on the ground. I don't agree that this current criteria...because obviously ground control should count for more than it currently does...but they made it this way for a reason...to discourage stalling and to encourage more ground and pound and of course action on the feet.
