It doesn't matter whether a song consists of simplistic or complex riffs. It's the music itself. The sounds. Close your eyes and just fucking listen to it. How does it make you feel? You either like it or don't. I love it.

working with loopers without a click track in the headphones for the drummer is a tad challenging, but the beat is straightforward as are the riffs/licks being played on bass/guitar. looping is an acquired skill, but i see this technique as craft more than art - although the vision so see these lines is not unpleasant. switching off the looper playing the same lines and then slowing down at the end is brilliant. composing by layering keeps the same progression, but adds and removes textures. its very fun to see them do it live. post rock by these guys seems to have no effects save loop/delays/distortion, so it's a clean/sparse weave that thickens, then thins out.
@fcallophoto
7 жыл бұрын
Actually Kristian revealed that now he has entire control over the looper, his and Tim's so they are on time with no mistakes. If you search for old videos you can see sometimes there isn't matching between what Kristian and Tim play. Even now they have some mistakes live but as you said, looping is a very hard skill to acquire. I want to buy a loop station but first I gotta learn everything about it.

Hmmm...this is OK I guess. Technically, they're not really playing anything very impressive, and I see a lot of this looping and effects driven music these days, and most of it is mediocre at best. If you REALLY want to see how it's done, check out Theresa Andersson's "Oh Mary" Live at La Petit, or Andrew Bird's "Imitosis".

wow you're so into minimalistic, and simple, and soulful, i could name 5 artists right now that play with even more simple sequences and would knock this guys head off, and they don't even have 5K views on their videos... it's not about the complexity of the pieces, it's about the talent, and this guys have no talent
