The Elands Bay cave at Baboon Point is an archaeological treasure, holding evidence of near-continuous human occupation for the last 100 000 years.
Rock art at the site includes large paintings of Eland torsos (the heads and legs have faded away. The town of Elands Bay gets its name from these paintings. There are also around 200 hand prints, and paintings of fat-tailed sheep and other antelope.
Recently I recorded Baboon Point using photogrammetry - by hand and by drone, and laser scanning to produce a digital replica of Baboon Point and Elands Bay cave in 3D for the Rock Art Portal (www.rockartportal.org)
