Malenia fits so well in Sekiro that modders put her into Sekiro as a custom boss and it fits almost perfectly.
@simonealcazar816
11 ай бұрын
Ehhhh. Not really. The modder had to rework her AI, give her combos which she wouldn’t be able to do in ER, speed up some of her moves, and even then had to give other stuff from Sekiro so her fight could be cohesive enough to work within the standards of the game. It was not just some simple drag and drop.

@@simonealcazar816makes sense, Elden ring AI is like souls AI, meant to be a bit passive at times I haven’t played sekiro but just watching clips of the game, Sekiro AI seems to be far less passive, No just standing there taking hits when not executing a move And also yeah, malenia’s combos are a bit short lol her biggest move outside of the clones and waterfowl is three quick sword slashes

@@MamaTrixxieAsmr She largely makes sense in ER, WFD biggest factor is that tracking on the first flurry is pretty strong, the rest of the attacks are threats but nothing that comparable in damage and tracking. She fits the standard really strong female souls boss fight archetype with some extra Hyper-armor protections to make she is stunlock to death with all the tools the player care has. Trust me. She’s designed the way she is because of how much stuff the player can throw at her.

It already is. I agree that the parry mechanic works well in Lies of P, but ER would need severe adjustments to not turn it into easy mode cheatcode and turn it into a button-masher. Compare Malenia to Ishhin. Malenia is arguably way harder to most people, but that's because Elden Ring and Sekiro have different mechanics. WIth Sekiro mechanics, Malenia isn't any stronger than your regular miniboss in Sekiro. If you could use ashes of war, miracles or magic in Sekiro, the game would also suck because of easy mode unless the devs turned spell parries also into a regular feature. More mechanics =/ better game. The character and enemy movesets are finetuned in every game to fit the mechanics. This applies to Bloodborne too with its dash and weapon parry, the enemies are more aggressive and so are you because that's how the game was designed to be compared to DS 1-3/ER. I think this is why Lies of P has a very small parry window, people were complaining about it being way overtuned but if the game had a Sekiro parry window people would be no-hit running the game in casual playthroughs in no time without breaking a sweat . Sekiro's wide parry window just doesn't work for souls games and soulslikes, it works for the rhytm-based combat that Sekiro specifically developed.

I think the reason Fromsoft didn’t have deflecting in Elden Ring was because it was developed in tandem with Sekiro. So they weren’t able to implement all of what they learned making Sekiro, but I’m pretty sure their next Souls-esq game will include more prominent parrying mechanics. At least I hope, Sekiro and Bloodborne easily have the best combat of any of their games, and they both lean hard into parries. If Elden Ring had them, it could’ve been better than both of them

I like jedi survivor/fallen orders combat a lot because it makes both dodging and blocking/parrying easy to do. That would've made a legendary boss fight. Think about it this way, Sekiro only becomes so proficient at fighting with prosthetic tools and weapon arts because he is able to resurrect and learn from his mistakes, Isshin got it right the first time without ever dying, and now we gotta fight against the person who is possibly even better than Isshin? We honestly missed out on some of the greatest potential content for Sekiro imo

But it only works well for big weapons and if you want to do it on smaller weapons, you need poise and, max stamina+stamina regen speed. Also surprisingly malenias great rune works ok with it to heal chip dmg, but if you arent on pc you cant even use it early so radahns is next best for stamina boost.

Unpopular opinion but i don't like the deflection mechanic. Most of all if it's the best mechanic of the game so you are forced to use it. It's like if parry, that is really satisfying and I love it, would be necessary to beat all the enemies in the game. It becomes too repetitive. Rolling is not overpowered and since you are actually moving and some attacks can't be rolled or only rollable in 1 direction it never bores me. Skumnut nice live as always I just wanted to express my opinion since so many people love deflecting.

i respect that which is why it would've been cool to have Elden Ring be similar to Lies Of P in the way it has both the standard gameplay with deflecting as an option on top of it and not a requirement, it would be cool to see Fromsoft add deflecting to a unique weapon or something in DLC but thats like a 0.0001% chance i think lol
@carlschrappen9712

I agree, rolling has a lot more depth baked into it because you have to account for the hitboxes and active frames of attacks, while you only need to concern yourself with the startup when deflecting. To tie into this, I also feel like deflecting devalues positioning a lot. In the Soulsborne combat system, the ideal way to avoid attacks is by using walking to make attacks whiff, because that doesn't cost stamina or lock you into an animation. In Sekiro, you do posture damage everytime you deflect an enemies attack, so you just want to stay still so you can deflect everything. I feel like Sekiro often turns into the player just standing still and pressing L1 at the right time, and occasionally dealing with a perilous attack (which usually have one correct answer, such as Mikiri counter). While the Soulsborne combat system is so much more nuanced than that.
@leithaziz2716
11 ай бұрын
This sorta thing will always be subjective, but the thing with rolling is that it doesn't progress the fight in any way until you land a hit. In fact, it can prolong it since you always consume stamina in the process. You can still dodge through every attack in Sekiro and learn the timing, but why would you want to when you have a method to counter that offense directly? I find that a lot more engaging. A lot of people boil Sekiro down to just deflecting, but there's so much more to do than that through the use of prosthetics. I didn't use them much during my 1st playthrough, but once I started experimenting in later runs, I found out that you can get pretty creative with them. Mist Raven, Shurikens, Umbrella, Firecrackers, and more.
