Is there any input lag during your experience? I'm occasionally playing on M1 Pro with their gaming toolkit and was wondering if there's some lag on steam deck, considering that it's still non-native platform (Proton and all). Yes, I understand on Mac it's probably arm -> amd and also crossover, like a double emulation or something.

No input lag whatsoever that I noticed. On Deck I played few games that are native Linux like Factorio, Project Zomboid, KSP and honestly I can't tell the difference between those and playing Windows games like Elden Ring which are being run over Proton. Proton doesn't seem to have any input lag or at latest any noticeable one. It just works!

How's your experience during very challenging bosses, like malenia, mohg? Do you have enough screen estate to pick up all the nuances of the fight?

Bosses moves are very flashy and on the Deck screen I had no problem picking on their attack animations. The environment, art direction, HUD, text, everything felt good enough. I played the entire game as well as the DLC for about 170 hours exclusively on the Deck OLED and it's been a great experience overall.

You may be in luck then, Steam Summer sale is in 2 days, Elden Ring will probably get the usual 50% off so make sure to pick it up :) The DLC; Shadow of the Erdtree also works incredibly well, I just released a video about it with some custom settings: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kqRs1q6Jh4WJmZw

@@UntitledCriticI never played Elden ring it or a game like it, I’m a casual gamer I play shooters, sports but it’s on sale for $41 and I have a steam deck, do you think I should get it, is it really hard and frustrating
@UntitledCritic
3 ай бұрын
@@chuck176 I can easily recommend it if you like any of the following: Openworld, good challenge, fantasy medieval settings; knights, dragons, swords and magic,..etc. When it comes to difficulty; yes the game is challenging especially the initial hours as the world feels extremely hostile and dangerous, there is little to no handholding so if you don't have patience then it can be frustrating. Once you get the hang of it and find a good character's build that works with your play style, it'll get slightly easier. You can read my full review: untitledcritic.com/review/elden-ring-review/ I personally loved the game but I've been also a fan of the older titles.

I cant get the game to connect online on Steam Deck???
@UntitledCritic

Are you playing complete vanilla? There's an anti-cheat software in FS games that make it impossible to connect online if any 3rd part mod is active as well.

@UntitledCritic I'm not even sure. I purchased the game though. Have the receipt.

when i set my resolution to 720 it squishes the image. why does yours not do that?
@UntitledCritic

Check the "Screen Mode" in the display options in Elden Ring, make sure it's set to "Full Screen". The 720P will simply add black bars to top and bottom of the steam deck screen since it supports 16:9 rather than 16:10.

Is the fan going loudly when playing Elden ring?
@UntitledCritic
3 ай бұрын
Honestly, I rarely play without my headphones on so I never notice the fan noise however while recording videos I didn't notice any major noise. If there's no music, no action then you'll probably hear the fan but with Elden Ring's constant action, epic music,..etc you probably won't notice.
@MiniMatthew

Nope I can confirm it isnt loud. There is a system setting where you can have a quiet fan (updated fan curve).
