Every time I say “ocular nerve”, please replace it in your mind with “optic nerve”, I have no idea how those words got mixed up in my brain and script but here we are and the amount of times I say “ocular nerve” causes me psychic pain so I apologize 🙏

A very interesting look at the Lands Between. Though funny enough, I think your initial read of the mural is upside down. It isn't so much tracking the Erdtree as it is the history of the faith of Leyndell. At the top is the Crucible, the target of worship in Leyndell just prior to the raise of the Erdtree. The Crucible's appearance is vaguely described in Siluria's spear and depicted on Crucible Knight armor. Tarnished Archeologist has video explaining tree budding and why the Crucible looks the way it does but I'll just give you a good in game example of what the Crucible actually looked like. If you go to the Forbidden Lands the trees there are smaller versions of it, just look at one of those and scale it up to the size of the Erdtree. Later the wild branches of the Crucible were culled so that the Erdtree's sprout would dominate and grow. There are statues depicting this culling and nurturing. One can be found in the church in Stormveil behind the alter. Another if you follow the road in Altus away from the lift of Dectus. The fledgling Erdtree is depicted by the smaller tree just below the Crucible. Then the Erdtree hits its height, the age of plenty, the full grown tree. Godfrey would still be the Elden Lord during this stage since amber talismans tell us this would be the time the amber was raining down and in Godfrey's time the amber jewels were treasures. Below that is the Elden Ring, as Golden Order Fundamentalism focuses more on the ring itself and only see the tree as a symbol of the ring. This notion goes so far that the Golden Order Seal and the cover of the Golden Order Principia depict the rings but the Tree imagery is altogether tossed out. Instead replaced in an upside down triangle that some could argue is symbolic of a womb (where the Elden Ring is actually roughly located in Marika). Below that where the hole starts to form and parts of the mural are gone we see parts of a trellis. This crisscross pattern, which is depicted on the cover of the game as part of the Elden Ring, always depicted along with Radagon. His statues, in Leyndell, in Raya Lucaria Archives, etc. depict him with the trellis image behind him. The only ingame depiction of the Elden Ring with the trellis is when we see it inside Radagon and when we mend the ring without our own mending rune (The Trellis may be his version of a mending rune). Sorry for the wall of text, Elden Ring is so dense it can be hard to tell when you are giving supporting information or rambling about other lore. Keep making videos, your editing is top notch!

Thank you very much for the comment!! to be honest I wasn't sure if my read of that stuff was the most accurate either haha, so your explanation has actually been helpful! (also I love the tarnished archaeologist!)

Blew my mind! The Flame of Frenzy looks like the optical nerve too and it’s emitted from the EYES! This theory also perfectly compliments the idea that the Fingers are the players/developers influencing the world through the controller/mouse (two fingers) from the outside (outer gods)

There are tons of references to blindness, specifically as it relates to faith. "We walk not by sight, but by faith alone."

The faerie cat of Liurnia is named Lacrima, which is the Latin word for a teardrop!

@@___.51 thank you very much!! i've been having a blast basically learning video editing through making these Elden Ring videos haha, I've always wanted to do more video and sound editing like this but never had the right combination of circumstances to do so til semirecently!

But wait, there’s more- check out the visual correlation between the Elden Beast’s ‘nervous system’ and Its surrounding Erdtree forest. Also neurons totally look like teeny weeny trees; the axon is the trunk, the myelin sheath is the bark, etc

Thinkin about this idea again, how it would apply to the Scadutree

There’s a recurring motif of characters having only one eye or having one eye covered/veiled, so the Shadowrealm/Scadutree is, perhaps, the other “covered” eye, or what remains of an eye that has since been blindfolded (could be due to illness or damage to the eye, leading to it being “sealed away” much like many of the inhabitants of the Shadow Realm). You can even see massive veils covering the top of the Scadutree! (I’m slowly working on the script for my next video which’ll cover some of this as well as “shadows” and the concept of Jungian shadow archetypes!)

@@LostInTheFloatingWorld It's great to hear you're working on a vid, the topic is great, you're really on to something. There's a lot to unpack, for instance if the Shadowrealm is comparable to a bad eye, it's like a Shabriri Grape, right? Which leads us to Hyetta's blindfolded Frenzy shenanigans (and Midra himself lives in the Shadowrealm). Or maybe the land could be compared to Marika's Soreseal/Scarseal eyeball things, which looks like the "seal of grace" that Marika replaced one of Messmer's eyes with to seal away the big evil snek, so it's like the whole Land was sealed away? It seems like Marika has a thing for banishing things into her subconscious lol

Awww 🥹🥹🥹 thank you, I have so many more ideas to discuss but since there wasn’t a ton of response to the vids I’ve made so far I thought I might take a break for a little bit (buncha other life stuff been happening too ofc 🙃), but lately I’ve definitely been itching to get back to working on the next one!

@@LostInTheFloatingWorld Glad to hear it! I love the idea of a god coming to the lands between just to chat. I can't wait to see what you make of the dlc... Assuming it ever comes out!

I’ve been considering making a video talking about the tiny bits we know of the DLC so far and how the field of reeds in the released art might be allusion to the Egyptian afterlife (and also I really want to talk about the concept of “shadows” in Elden Ring in general, the three types of shadows, Jungian shadows, etc) but I’ve been hoping for a lil more news than we’ve gotten before I start 😅 I’m so eagerly waiting for it!!

Excellent work on the video, I always suspected the lands between were in the vitreous humour of a large eye, I'm sure this ties in with the fire giant and their giant abdominal eye after all the golden order has branded them an enemy. Just a heads up for future ones the branching red parts at the back of the eye originating from the insertion of the optic nerve are blood vessels
