You guys stock some cool stuff. Need to stock Cyclone motors like 2000W and the 3000W, and the 212 HF motor with jackshaft kits for it to go from LH side drive to RH side drive, so the bikes gears can be used. That 212 motor would be sweet on a bike with a Shimano internal geared 3 speed hub.

We no longer carry the electric engine shown in this video, we instead have switched to its newer counterpart, which has better torque and top speed, but also and increased size and weight. They are similar in weight, adding roughly 20 lbs. Though the distribution of the weight is different, as the electric kit is spread towards the front of the bike and the gas kit is localized to the center of the bike.

for ease of use and maintenance, electric wins the day hands down. but for long term use, you cant (yet at least) beat well proven and tested 2/4 stroke vehicles. I like both (EV and ICE) and use them both quite often. each has its own purpose. in my country and Ebike over 250w has to be registered as moped, just like 49 and onward mopeds. We do have ene exception; any moped limited to 25 km/h are treated as bicycle (no need for driving license, still have to register it).

I've had both an electric bike and a gas powered bike, and i prefer the gas powered bike better. One of the 18650 batteries burnt out inside the battery case and melted something. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. That stupid battery costs like 5x more than the whole gas powered kit. the only advantage the electric motor gave me was it was less stinky and quieter. People indoors generally cant even even hear the gas powered one so its not that loud.

Most of our customers aren't concerned about the maximum load a bike can carry, but are more concerned with top speed. The general rule with either type of bike, gas or electric, is that the more weight the lower speeds and MPG. All of our products, both gas and electric powered bikes, can carry a load of 250 lbs with ease. Typically, gas bikes can carry a larger load. If carrying a load for a long distance is of concern, an electric bike would not be ideal as the battery would run out quicker than a tank of gas.

@bikeberry
6 жыл бұрын
Great comment. We left this out because of the varying cost of electricity in different regions and because of inconsistency of where the bike is charged. We could have easily played it safe and calculated the most expensive location for electricity, but it would be just as unreliable as calculating the least expensive location for electricity. A rider could also change the variables by charging the bike at work or while out of the house, at no cost to themselves. Additionally, many riders that would consider an electric bike would likely not need to travel more than 25 miles at a time, especially in a metropolitan area where the average daily commute can easily be within that limit.

Good reasons. Gasoline engines are vastly more affordable and easier to work on, there are also plenty of add-ons that that can be used and reused for all of your bikes. Although, electric engines are far from horrible. The technology is continuously getting better and becoming more affordable, especially when considering the constant rise in petrol. There are also many individuals who prefer the reduced carbon footprint. There is no wrong answer in which is better, it all comes down to what you're looking for.

In Washington State we can go up to a 49 cc gas engine and still ride the streets, PROVIDED we register it as a moped and get a plate for it. I'd been looking at a emotor for quite a while, but they really have practical distance problems (battery weight, recharge time). A gallon of gas that I can get anywhere, vs a 20 - 55 lb battery that will take 8 - 12 hrs to recharge.

For sure. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. We certainly enjoy the fun aspects of the motorized gas powered engines but the electric bikes are surprisingly more hassle free than you'd think. The main advantage of a gas engine is that if something happens like the piston and cylinder breaks you can replace them two parts, with an electric motor you have to replace the entire motor. Then you also have to factor in the amount of electricity you have to replace in the battery because unless you somehow can get your electricity in your home for free you have to factor in the cost of that. Carbs last pretty well and shouldn’t break on you unless of back fire, the whole electric motor and battery can short circuit itself if a break in the plastic shell for the components occurs and it is raining, most gas bikes run a magneto loop that can be replaced for around $10 if something goes wrong. Honestly all forms have trade offs that can ruin the motor itself.

About the cost of electricity, the battery of an e-bike like this doesn't exceed .5Kwh. The cost of electricity in the USA is about 10cents/KWh, so that gives us about 5cents per full charge, thus 20 charges per dollar, meaning 500 miles per dollar!!! Not to mention charging is available in public places for free.

My motor with all the parts was only 85$ free shipping on Amazon compared to a electric mid drive motor being 600$ plus and another 4-600 bucks for the battery. @@zacharytriano5112 ik this is old but I also should mention when it comes to electric bikes vs motorized bikes, one of the huge advantages of ebikes is the legality of them. 1.cops will less often stop and question you. 2. You can use the bike lane which in a lot of states has the advantage of being able to not deal with traffic and in urban areas sometimes don’t require you to wait at traffic lights. 3. Until you get to the 60+ mph mark you don’t need a licensee at all so even if a cop stops you, if you don’t have a license you can’t get given a ticket since it’s not considered a “Commute Vehicle”

J Hewitt here's a simple comparison... gas: (preferably 4-stroke, but not limited to), cost, good quality bike kits can range from $200-$400 for the complete setup of an 80cc engine ebike: kits can range greatly from $200-$500 for setups between 250W-1,000W, but these kits almost never include the battery which can cost $300-$400+ by themselves gas: power - a person of less than 150lbs can usually ride a 40cc motor at 15mph+ easily, over I recommend 80cc motor, which can carry a 250lbs person at 20mph+ easily, but can get speeds over 30+mph ebike: power, a person over 150lbs can use a 350W for pedal assist, but not recommended for unassisted, otherwise, 150lbs+ should get at least 750W-1,000w, speeds are still limited gas: range - average distance can be 30-40+ miles per tank and you can fill up in less than 60 seconds and gas stations are everywhere ebike: range - average distance can be 20-30 miles between charge, and charges can take 2.5-4.0+ hours (if you can find a place that will let you charge up) gas: longevity - a properly maintained motor can last 6,000-10,000+ miles, ebike: longevity - most batteries can be charged up to around 800 times average, around 18,000-20,000 miles, but the motors themselves rarely last more than 5,000-8,000 miles, simple and cheap breakdown maintenance on a 2 or 4 stroke motor is usually less than $75-$100, extending its life for another 5,000-7,000 miles ebike motors usually start at $200+, and the batteries at $300+, gas @ 20,000 miles $200+ for maintenance/repair or $400+ for replace ebike @ 20,000 miles $800 (replaced 3-4 times) & $300+ for battery = $1,100 cost and longevity......seems the maker of this video purposefully left some info out, seems a little bias

Electric bike battery will take you maybe 20 miles if you pedal along. If you don't pedal the battery may not get you 10 miles. As the battery ages, your battery range drops significantly.

The one question I had wasn't answered. If the electric bike ran out of charge, would it be as easy to pedal as the gas powered bike? Is there noticable drag from the hub and it is noticeably heavier with the batteries? This is why I chose the gassy. The whole point to me was a power source but still having a pedal powered bike without needing assist.

I have a 1000w conversion kit with a 48v battery , I've driven it hard for a year straight , 20 miles per day , I spent 600$ on a quality battery and it brought me to and from work for 3 months straight with no problem , over all I've had a year with no problems . Tge hard part of having a high powered motor is you just never get a consistent read on your battery , I've often times gone fast and not made it back home I need a second battery at this point . It's fading, as it fades I learned that driving slower gives me significantly more distance , so sadly it looks like to have a worry free day of riding long distance , you need 2 batteries . I was driving 10 miles per day at my old job. But I was going fast , almost full speed at times because I had to go on service roads , top speed was 50 km per hour which was significantly enough speed for a bike frame which isn't build to sustain 50 km constantly , you have to check , maintain and reinforce your axels with torque arms and constantly change your brake pads , keep that in mind . My over all view on ebikes is that they are good , but situational, the truth about engines is , we are not there yet with the technology, we are good , but simply not there where we need to be with regards to longevity and somehow figuring out how to self charge while riding goes. After a full year of rising an ebike hard , like I weigh 230 lbs , tge battery and motorized wheel weigh easy 25 lbs on tge bike , my sons bobike seat which holds 70 lbs ,is 12 lbs and school his school bag and of course my son at 60 lbs . Were talking over 310 lbs of weight that thing drags with ease pretty much . So it's being worked hard yes , but again 600$ for the battery 300for tge conversion kit ,( that was pre pandemic, they've jumped since, but try ebay ), the bike,steel frame 125$ marketplace ,torque arm 15$ , fenders 20$ flashing and front light 800 lumons 24$ , brake pads 10$, per year 50$ depending how you ride , helmet , the most important thing , I was hit by a car 1st time in my life , not my fault but 3 days after starting to wear a helmet, fractured shoulder but head was safe . Oh and 2 pairs of tires because I am kind of crazy how I ride and needed snow tires too , not genuine ones just well threaded , I'm in Canada. So yes it's costly the first year , but once yiur set up its just maintenance. I wish I could get 100 km on a single charge but again the downfall is that these batteries don't last even if you get the high end lithium ion battery , but again I've traveled probably 4000 km over this year approximately so can I complain overall , no . Just makes me sad that my batteries not whatvit used to be , but as is this game at the moment. I'll have to get another and then I'll be happy. We need longer lasting , and batteries with longevity. I wrote all of this while charging my battery in a metro station in montreal because my battery died , stuck charging , been an hour , keep this in mind , do yiu have 3 to 4 hours to charge you battery if you get caught out somewhere? I've been stranded 7 times 3 were major , out of tge city and had no choice but to spend 2 hours in tge middle of some small town at a park, tgebonly available socket I could find . If I had to drive long distances I'd go gas but tgey are loud motirs to my understanding , I saw one once and I was embarrassed for the guy driving it lol , but whatever works ! . Have a good day .

You do know that electricity costs too right? It's funny how the comparison wasn't mentioned.

True, but that is not something that can be easily calculated as charging may be done at different locations other than at the owner's residence, such as work, a friend's house, stores, restaurants, and parks. Besides those factors the cost of electricity differs between different regions. It is definitely a cost, but it is a far less immediate and noticeable cost when compared to the increasing cost of petrol fuel.

Tiggerlive www.Alibaba.com is a Wholesale global trading Website, mainly designed for businesses to buy items in bulk from manufacturers and trading companies. Most of the stuff is from china, but you can buy stuff from other countries too. It's usually a lot cheaper to buy there, as it is for the most part, direct from China, and it is priced for businesses to buy and resell the items in another country . The flipside, is that it is more difficult to buy items from, as you have to directly talk to the seller, and initiate a sale. Also, many sellers (usually the direct manufacturers), require that you have a "Tax ID number" In other words, many sellers will only deal with registered businesses. Some will deal with individuals, however, and will even sell a single item to you (mainly trading companies, or manufacturers who sell very large items, like Motorcycles) , although it is cheaper to buy many items. In other words, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets. Any item you can think of, Alibaba probably has it for sale. Everything from cheap LED flashlights and toys, all the way up to motorcycles, Excavators, and even CNC machines to make your own things! Yeah, so if you want to build your own factory to make stuff, you can buy the equipment from Alibaba, make your product, and sell the finished product to other businesses on Alibaba! (or just buy finished items from Alibaba, and resell them in your store!) Chances are, if you buy say, an 80cc Bike Kit from eBay, the seller of that bike kit probably bought it at Alibaba.

They do more than just slap a sticker on it. They port and polish modding each motor and upgraded little things like hardware bearings crankshaft thats what your paying for. But im sure you already knew that. Sure if you have the skills and tools you could buy the motor from the manufacturer at around $50-$100 and swap out hardware bearings port and polish cut open exchange ports match the right parts wait weeks and weeks for shipping

Hello there! Nice informative video! However you left out the cost of the oil a two stroke engine must have mixed in the gas! With that, it is not a lot of money, but if you use a top quality synthetic oil it can get more expensive, but it will help with reaching the higher miles before it gets tired! If the mix ratio is 30/1 that would mean for every 30 gals of gas at $2.50/gal, you would need to add a gallon of oil to the mix and a good quality synthetic oil can be expensive! Like around another $20.00!
@bikeberry
6 жыл бұрын
You are correct, we left out the price of the oil because it ranges between brand, retailer, and type of oil used. Similarly, the price of gas also varies from locations. For our location, Los Angles County, gas prices can vary up to 50 cents.

Everyone has different needs. Gas motors typically have higher performance for a lower cost, but require more maintenance. Though requiring more maintenance, they can be repaired more easily and at a lower cost than electric bikes. Electric bikes do not produce emissions and provide a smoother ride than gas engines.

If we could drop it into the ol' fusomatic to make a monster of a bike, we would. Unfortunately, that mix would require some sort of control box to regulate the motors into unison. These motors work at different speeds and through different means. The likely effect would be a boost in low end performance, with little to no boost in top speed. At some point, the more powerful gas engine would overpower the electric engine, causing a similar situation as trying to pedal while going down a steep hill; there will be motion from the engine but not enough speed or power to properly transfer any driving force.

Actually I’m gonna have to disagree, with the customization….if Your building a high powered 3000w kit, and using a stealth bomber frame….you can over clock the speed controller for greater speed, I have a couple of friends that’s running over 60mph on theirs….one guy is doing over 75mph, and the other guy is doing over 60mph….we all are using the same frame, but all our bikes look totally different….you can build them to fit your style of riding. The frames are made for high speeds, and most of us is using hydraulic disc brakes….as for looks the stealth bomber builds do turn heads….if you go on my channel you will see pictures of mine.

When you speak about the total cost over a life span of the each bike you never gave a dollar amount for the cost of the electric bike. You dollar amount for gas over the life span of the Nike. On the electric all you said was to expect (x) amount charging times. Electricity cost just like gas cost. Based on kilowatts in your area x amount time used to charge the battery should give a good ballpark for dollar amount used to charge the battery over its lifspan
