In the year 2018, the electric bus will increasingly become a familiar appearance in the Dutch street scene. Electric city buses now operate in Maastricht, Venlo, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, Gorinchem, Dordrecht, Utrecht, Almere, Amersfoort, Haarlem and Groningen. In addition, there is a large fleet of electric buses operating at and around Schiphol, and on the suburban lines south of Amsterdam. Finally, public transport on the Wadden Islands Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog is almost 100% electric. Dutch busbuilder VDL is a major supplier of electric buses. About 200 of the Citea Electric are now operating in the Netherlands.
