I am currently sitting on my phone in the dark without power in Johannesburg South Africa, due to ‘load shedding’ essential a period of roughly 2hr each day where the South African government turns off power in rolling temporary blackouts. If the National energy regulator ESKOM cannot keep power in homes 🏠 on, electrical vehicles seem further off….

Doesn’t the National Grid use Base Load energy? If that’s true and their Base Load isn’t electrified, then EV penetration is my dependent on that legacy infrastructure. That’s part of the beauty for EV’s and the energy disruption.

When your continent is blessed with renewable energy and if you're still facing power outages and load shedding then it's time to get rid of that shitty party. Even in the times of solar energy, wind energy, biomass and all sort of microgrids system your government struggling to provide power then what a fucken government is that get rid of ANC real quick and bring in new party that would do something with it anyway it time we actually move on from coal and start with the renewable cus y'all get sun and wind and have the river's so it's the right time to utilise those sources. Bring in solar wind and microgrids for small river's and basically go sustainable and then start bringing in electric vehicles but before that make sure your infrastructure is ready there's smart energy grid system I hope to see it get implemented in Africa

Africa should catch up and overtake many laggard by adopting latest communication facilities like 5g, AI available cheaply. Use these tools to create new way of life that is more efficient and productive to eradicate poverty and create wealth. There are good example in many Asia nations. Apart from electric cars, what is the infrastructure like? Is Power Supply reliable? In Nigeria for instance, most of Nigeria’s urban areas run on privately owned generator sets and not the national grid. What about manufacturing or assembly of electric cars for export? EVs are far too expensive for the African youthful population to buy or maintain. With unreliable infrastructure and limited manufacturing or assembly know how/plans, this EV matter is a pipe dream. Maybe Africa needs to think hydrogen fuel cells and solar powered vehicles. Maybe biofuels (but with regulations to protect food supply agriculture).

The entire world needs solar-powered cars with bi-directional charging capability, also known as sunrollers. Yes, sunrollers are so important and so crucial they need a name now. Immobile, grid-connected charging stations are expensive to build and inconvenient (difficult to spend lots of time at), especially when you have lots of children and you don’t feel safe in public, and your chances of getting chargers installed and connected where you live are slim. Building these sunrollers makes tons of sense, because car roof solar panels are getting more efficient and cheaper so quickly now, and Africa gets so much sunshine every day! Solar canopies make tons of sense as well. On every island and on every inhabited continent. Let’s get the whole world driving on sunshine!

I think the video is looking at the broader picture, as most nations are planning and building infrastructure (charging stations) to switch to electric cars. As things look now, they'll discontinue production of petrol or diesel based cars by 2040. So what's being done on the contents in face of shift? Those are What they tried to show in the video....There are cheaper electric cars and prices are expected to fall. The video also focused on two wheel EV which is expected to popular in Africa?

@@Invicibles77 China has the infrastructure, workers, knowledge and resources that many countries do not. The US has the capability to become fully electric in the next 15 years but politics is holding us back. While the rest of the world steams ahead our politicians play games and waste time. African countries politicians are even worse.
