Lyrics: It was 9-29, 9-29 back street big city. The sun was going down, there was music all around It felt so right. It was one of those nights, one of those nights when you feel the world stop turnin', you were standing There, there was music in the air. I should have been Away, but I knew I'd have to stay. Last train to London, just headin' out, Last train to London, just leavin' town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you, Let the music play on down the line tonight. It was one of those nights, one of those nights when you feel the fire is burnin', everybody was there, everybody to share It felt so right. There you were on your own, lookin' like you were The only one around, I had to be with you, nothin' else that I could do, I should have been away, but I knew I'd have to stay. Last train to London, just headin' out, Last train to London, just leavin' town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight. Underneath a starry sky, time was still but hours Must really have rushed by, I didn't realize, But love was in your eyes, I really should have Gone, but love went on and on... Last train to London, just headin' out, Last train to London, just leavin' town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight.

You'd never hear lyrics like these in a modern song. Nobody feels this free any more. Maybe never again. Sometimes I think not having to buy albums in a shop would not have been so bad. Or listening intently for that one song on the radio to finally catch its name. The internet gave us a lot, but it's taken away a lot more.

probably around august 2011. i was 15 and i was at my art class, my mom just left my violent (now gone) dad and i felt like some type of healthy happiness for the first time in years. so one of my classmates asked my teacher if she could put some music through my teacher's stereo, he said yes cause he was really cool and let us do any artistic thing we felt like doing. right after she got bored of her musical choices, i ran and through bluetooth i played this song at maxim volume. everyone in the class loved it, and my teacher congratulated me for picking up this song. i was really obsessed with last train to london back then because i was in a very hopeful state of mind.

Jeff Lynne and Elo have been so vastly underrated over the years -I think even though their music is mostly 'middle of the road' pop music, they have produced some quality songs over the last few decades.Jeff Lynne is such a talented performer and so deserves more recognition than he has had in his career.'Discovery' must rate as one of my favourite albums.I just love every song on there. This is definitely a favourite with 'Mr Blue Sky' and 'Concerto for a Rainy Day'.I see that Jeff has been nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and rightly so.Such a great artist, songwriter and performer. He and Elo deserve it.

It was 9-29, 9-29 back street big city.

Truly one of the more underrated songs of ELO and the only song they came out with that was a disco soundtrack.

This reminds of the girl that lit my fire every night when we got together. We first drank and smoke as our heart desired and end the night dancing to songs like these. This one was on the top of the list....there after we turned off the lights and let the volcano of love erupt 🎉❤
