The kick back on that thing towards the end was a little scary. Glad to see you've already got a fix in place to handle that torque.

I was sure it was going to get traction and launch off of the center stand but you got lucky! Also, that jump from forward power to regen braking is brutal. I wonder if a good controller could make that a little smoother. I just TODAY ordered a 4kw hub motor kit from QS

Just a reminder. You don´t want ANY holes in a highly stressed component, just as your swing arm. ( 2:18 ) The reason is that you will generate a high-stress concentration spot, and probably generate fatigue cracks. I´m an engineer and worked 15 years in maintenance engineering in the oil industry. Saw plenty of things. Try to use some other means, perhaps even welding a bracket, instead of drilling the chassis components. This is a great rig. And those batteries are awesome. Thanks for taking the time to show it.

You can’t see it but I have hardened steel that is on the inside of the frame also to hookup the break I have another piece of steel that’s attached to the wheel to hold it on if some broke as a redundancy . But your right you really need to keep in mind stress points as you build something , this was one of my first builds

You must have made a lot of triple checks to make sure it was secured. That motor has serious torque! I can relate because I've been riding a large-hub RWD 3.3kw off road longboard and I'm currently waiting to pickup my board from the workshop for its 6.6kw AWD upgrade done.

Hello my friend. Nice build! I have two questions: What is the shaft length of the hub motor you used? Im also converting a ninja 250 and my concern is the shaft length. And my other question is: What mechanism did you use to lock the hub shaft to the swingarm? I saw further in your build that you made a slotted bracket but how did you attach it to the swing arm so it doesn't move back and forth? Greetings!

If you’re going to go with the 8K motor I would use in ninja 500. You can get them really cheap, but if you’re going to go for the 12 K motor I would go with the Yamaha GSX 600 or thousand if you can find a rolling frame you’ll still have to make a cradle for those though

For safety's sake, I don't see any sort of axle block on installed after you cut the fork. I know this is like a year and a half late, but using a couple would lock your wheel in if the nuts decide to loosen up on you and send your wheel flying at 65mph

Diy Guy go with lithium battery bro. So much faster and better. Way more torque. I just swapped my 32ah acid batteries for 2x 30ah lithium. And holy it’s fast. 1x 30ah is super fast. The second battery definitely makes it noticeably heavier. But I went this route so I can have 2 chargers charging it at the same time for faster charging. chargers are 72v 4.5a input. 6.5 hour full charge if both was empty but usually takes me 4-6 hours full charge as I don’t drain them to empty often. Having 2 batteries also help with range anxiety. I get about 90km range doing 60-87kph average speed. I have only a 2500w motor. I’m thinking about going 8000w motor hub for more highway level speed.

The benefit of having a hub motor on your bike, there’s no need for a chain drive from the motor to the rear wheel, and also if you want to go insane with the hub motor. You can also add another one for the front wheel, just imagine the power of having two wheel drive on your bike.
