In Africa, 600 million people still do not have access to electricity.
That represents nearly 43% of the population. In many countries, the infrastructures lack and the territories are too vast to be fully covered by the national electricity distribution networks. Therefore, many isolated villages have no choice but to go without.
But fortunately, solutions do exist!
In Kenya, the electrification rate is one of the highest in the region - 71% - thanks in particular to the installation of mini-grids in disconnected/isolated areas. Solar or hydroelectric, these autonomous mini-grids take over from the national grids and guarantee reliable and continuous access to electricity for the inhabitants.
