I did bodge one leak like that years ago, guy claimed he was retiring in a couple of months. Basically cut the suction line off flush with the compressor body, mangled the hole big enough to push a bit of 1/4" copper in and used 40% silver rods to blob it onto the compressor. Bit of paint and it actually lasted a couple of years until he did retire!

Good job I think it's needs more than that but you got to do what you got to do I think you're an excellent repairman

Good video ! in a Emergency like this You can repair this by taking a piece of 1/2" soft copper, putting a flare at one end , slipping it over pipe & welding flared end to compressor with 55% silver solder & flux, cleaning compressor surface area of course before welding. Should work in this case.

Really the owner didn't want you to replace the compressor instead having you charge r 134 gas every day. That's crazy.great work joe

I'd have tried sleeving a slightly larger piece of copper over that leaky line on the compressor and brazing that in place. (I did that once on a dehumidifier compressor where I was gradually ruining what was left of the suction line stub, trying to get a piece of tubing out of it. It's still running today.)

“Trying” anything really is a favor regardless. That level of rust is a goner

Is the compressor 3-phase? It looks a bit small for a 3-phase compressor.

Single phase

Single phase but 240 AND one leg is always hit even when the power switch is turned off. ⚡️
