Awesome video Rob, short but right to the point. And I heard some decent metal tones there, push the amp a little more and I think maybe Cap scooped it but there was definitely some real metal edge there

You guys should do a "classic pedal roundup" video. As much as I like seeing what new pedals boutique makers like Lovepedal or Keeley, or bigger companies like EHX have to offer, honestly I spend most of these videos trying to guess which classic pedal they're attempting to copy. I'm sure the classics are still big sellers, and not everyone knows what a real Tube Screamer, Big Muff, Small Clone, OCD, Carbon Copy, etc. sound like. Anyway, just a thought.

High gain setting with boost gives you great metal tone, great with 7 strings.

Better a year late than never. I have enough pedals especially overdrives to open a store so another OD is the last thing I need. However just about every demo I heard it sounded right so I got one. Glad I did. Its very open and not compressed. A strummed open G for ex you can hear the notes and its not mangled. Not a strong od which is good since it goes well with heads already with gain. The rotary swtich you can thicken the sound which is good for various pickups. The boost is strong and can really open up a clean amp into hard rock territory,70s,mid 80s... The volume is a lot and is more than enough to use the boost for lead. Having a jack for boost seems a waste but I use a loop rig to house my pedals and its great to run a switch to where I am. I hope this catches on. Open, articulate, late 70,s ZZtop VH type od that had plenty of knobbies to tweak to taste. A+++

I can all but guarantee you that the expensive amp/cheap guitar combo would win every single time in the hands of a talented guitarist. The difference in tone between a high quality tube amplifier through a proper cabinet and a $100 practice amp is gigantic. The difference between a high quality guitar vs a cheap one would be noticeable yes, but more so in feel than tone, albeit still their would be a difference there too, just not as obvious as a boutique amp vs like a line6 spyder.

well when i say cheap i do not mean like 100$ cheap. My point is more to see if its better to spend more on the amp or the guitar even though i already know what the answer will be

Omg, the mesa mini mark 5:25 and Chapman Ml1 pro. Makes me warm inside. Seriously, that pedal makes that amp sound mushy. Run, that pedal through Fender blues junior or hot rod deluxe would sound best. Oh, please a review of that guitar.

This pedal definitely works better over the crunchy tone... Very workable. But I can still achieve this better with my TC dark matter and a TC Spark mini booster through my Ampeg GVT 15-112 with the gain and mids past 2 o'clock. Cool pedal for someone who's just starting without any other pedals, imho. Cheers boys, Great video.

If you have a rack peddle switch (rocktron patchmate, et al.) You can use one of the switching channels to switch foot-switchable-things on amps and effects. It has a footswitch port so you can do such things.

This sounds like it has the same problem as my Soul Food OD also by ehx, the more gain you add, the flatter it gets. Now I just use it as a boost (best use for it imo) in front of a Big Muff Pi with tone/wicker and I get a much roomier open drive sound.

This is a good example of how some otherwise fine pedals just don't mesh well with particular amps. I've heard this pedal through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe's clean channel and it sounded glorious. Not muddy or underwhelming as it did in this video. The Mesa just didn't seem to want to get along with it at all and the fact that they went running back to the Boogie to get some more crunch out of it is proof positive that gain-wise, the EHX fell short with this one amp. It farted with no particular emphasis coming out of the eq. I can tell you to watch some other videos demonstrating this pedal and it's like night and day. No insult to the fellas as this has zero to do with them. Sometimes, the marriage of a great pedal and great amp, despite the best intentions, ends in divorce.

They are honestly some of your best videos I know you probably don't have the time, since you're busy with Dorje and reviewing other stuff, but I seriously think you should at least consider doing at least one other one! Maybe do a version of the previous long videos we've seen (Custom guitar and gig for under £500) but have a shoot out with Cap'n and Bea to see who can get the closest (e.g. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Redo the Jimmy Page one better, Billy Gibbons etc.) Please at least consider it, but keep up the good work Chappers and Lee!!! I only really use one tone so I tend to run drive pedals maxed to give me the tone I want. For a moment there I worried Cap'n was gonna avoid boosting and maxing the gain knobs on the pedal like he sometimes does (WHY?!!!?) but thankfully not, now I know how this pedal would actually sound if I used it... it's nearly there... just missing a lil somthing.

Why you guys can't properly set up the amp eq? ..to middy and mushy.. Just turn down the 250hz .and it will be ok.. Lower output pickup is the best platform into this pedal.. Btw, The guitar itself sound like shit.. And keep noodling like shit..c'mon 👎
