As silly as this may seem to ask, what is the function of said antenna?

Hi friend. The antenna harnesses positive ions that flux potential with the negative ions in the earth generating feeble voltage.

What is the best material for the pole itself? Should it be insulation material (wood, plastic , etc) or conductive?

Hey friend. Any material is fine for the pole but you want to insulate the pole from the antenna always. Even wood is conductive when wet so very important to insulate the antenna body from any pole material. You can make a pvc sleeve, use a piece of rubber, or specialized insulative collars.

Looks very sophisticated. And what effect have you observed?

No very simple. About a 10 minute setup. I just installed this antenna on the magnolia so no conclusions. However I have applied this combination of techniques to many trees to help mitigate insect pressure as well as expedient foliar growth and prolific blooms. I will observe the magnolia.

How much natural volts is running through the plant,is there any chance of you checking it with a volt meter

Hi Nick. The voltage will most likely be in the micro voltage range and will change constantly due to the nature of the antenna function as well as the constantly varied exchange of pos and neg ions from environmental sources. That being said, I've done enough multimeter tests to find them super redundant and not a part of what I feel is needed at this point in electroculture . I do, however, encourage you to experiment and collect empirical data of your own. Many blessings friend.
