This video shows the impact of Electromagnetic Stirring (EMS) during continuous casting.
The arrows illustrate the speed of the metal's rotational flow with 3D volume vectors without stirring (left) versus with stirring (right).
Electromagnetic Stirring (EMS) is a process that generates a variable electromagnetic field to modify the movement of a conductive fluid.
Frequently used in metallurgy, EMS helps to improve the quality of the part's surface and reduce cracks, segregation and porosities.
Based on the coupling of an electromagnetic solver and a thermo-hydro-mechanical solver, the feature lets you configure and anticipate:
➡️ Geometry and location of the stirrers
➡️ Current intensity, frequency, phase shift
➡️ Flow rate of the metal
➡️ Lorentz force fields
