Indians really need Ettiquete lessons too. We're surrounded by beauty and have such an great history of art and culture, our traditions display this, but unfortunately so many of us just don't have the civic sense to maintain it/express it. Imagine Chai but served like this. You get up, serve this to your guests, drink it elegantly. They're impressed by our behavior but can't even pinpoint what it is that's impressive.

This is much of the same advice my Syrian mother always gives me. My lounge wear is soft caftans, and shorter ones for days i'm cleaning. The tea tray is basically what I do for breakfast and i'll usually light an incense at that time and write in my journal. perfume (always an attar, I got rid of my alcohol based/synthetic perfumes) is a must. Its my last step of getting ready for the day before going to make my tea and it puts me in such an uplifted, elegant and luxurious mood.

When i do my matcha ritual I feel so elevated and uplifted. I have this ritual for 25 years and I never tired of it. It sets up the mood for my entire day. Even when i fly and go somewhere i have my matcha with me. My lounge wear is from MOTF or silk coordinates that is made of mulberry silk. Rcen working at home i feel like its a vacation. I use minimal jewelry at home too. We're the same I have signature scent at home and it's attached to my bed silks too.

Lovely video! I agree with you on the secrecy of our perfume! I never liked when someone asked what I wore. I lost a friend because I said the name of my fragrance. She bought it without trying it on her skin. When she wore it, it was very different from my skin reaction . She acused me of trying to hide my fragrance, saying that it was not the same!! Well... So this was a lesson trully learned. The tea ritual... you're so right Jamila. I was sick (gut issues) for some time, and I only could drink water and tea, and eat soup and fruit. I did it with all my silverwear, with flowers on my table, with music on the background. Now i'm better, but looking back, it trully gave me strenght to deal with an unpleasant situation (i was in a lot of pain). Oh and I was always dressed, even when in pain. And that, also helped a lot.

Hello Jamila ! And everyone here. I would like to share that I used to love scents, candles, perfumes, oils etc. but now, I am suffering from severe allergies to scents (any strong smell good or bad) to the point that I cannot wear any perfume anymore. Maybe my message is for all just to be careful on the products you will use. Make sure it's mild or hypoallergenic in nature because in the long run your nose or sinus will suffer the effect . Just a friendly reminder to all. Lovelots ! ❤ - Divine 😊

The easiest way for me to feel elegant at home is by using lovely plates and cups. Brands like Spode, Burleigh, Royal Albert, and Gien make lovely dining ware. Spode and Burleigh have factory sales and sell Seconds, so it makes some of their items the same price as cheaper brands. If you can get to France, there are dozens of markets selling used plates for very affordable prices.

@blueice011
4 ай бұрын
Lovely video as always, Jamila. Thank you. It's a pleasure learning from you. When it comes to loungewear, my goal is comfort and effortless, demure but classy elegance. Natural materials, such as cotton, silk, wool, cashmere or linen are always good choice for me and they don't have to be expensive. I feel that H&M has excellent choice in this particular category - my favorites would be their knits in various combinations and sets, also cotton and linen sets. Very minimalistic, clean lines, comfortable but classy and timeless. You can look and feel like a lady inside your home, you can safely step outside in the same outfits and still look classy. I also love layering silk or satin tops with soft cashmere or wool slightly oversized and relaxed cardigans in more special occasions in the evening - the feeling of softest wool that glides over silky garment is very sensual. Ballet flats/slip-ons lined with soft fury or wool are great choice for indoors. I love to have fresh flowers in my home. The scent is very important to me - I choose breezy, fresh and clean fragrance for both myself and my home. I never combine lounge or sleepwear with strong perfumes. Instead I opt for original Nivea or Dove deodorants which smell creamy, soft and clean and for my home I usually choose similar, clean cotton or linen scents in a form of diffuser. I love candles but I find them to be to hazardous and not particularly healthy option. I love lamps with warm, soft light and cozy vibe in my favorite spaces at home. It creates special ambiance.

I recently made a rule in our house that the last person out of bed (between my husband and I) should make the bed. 9 times out of 10 that is me since my husband wakes up at 5:30am for work weekdays. But weekends I usually am rising earlier. I've found making the bed and doing a quick tidy of the room really elevates the feeling from sloppy/unorganised (if left unmade) to clean, tidy, and elegant. My husband also got me a glass essential oil nebuliser (no plastic parts) so that we can scent the room with calming aromas. Lavender is my favourite for the bedroom. I also adore fresh flowers from our garden for the kitchen table under a table runner. Keeping the dining table free of clutter with a daily tidy also is a small ritual that helps make the home feel elevated & elegant. I stopped using candles after finding they were triggering my asthma (unless plain beeswax) and hearing of a family friend's home which burnt to the ground due to a knocked over candle. 😢 I'm Catholic so I still get to enjoy candles at the Church, lighting one when I make my prayers. 🕯️ Another thing that I want to work on is putting on makeup daily. I always feel so much happier, elegant and more confident about myself. It's not something that I currently do however, but it's something I want to work on. 💕🌸

My grandma was a very elegant woman who loved to rescue dogs and would let her dogs inside the house too. Her ritual (I suppose) was to have a number of lint removers around the house (the reverse velvet kind not the disposable kind) and a couple of times a day she would stop and give herself a little brush. I thought it was the cutest thing since it was really a never ending battle! I think if she were still alive today she would probably have gotten a nonshedding dog to help relieve the hair everywhere!
