we need to change the name of Baker's Waterfall, It is a shame we still use the name of someone like him for something like that, And I am pretty sure he is not the one who found that waterfall first 😂

Yes, true. Previously the waterfall was known as ‘Gonagala Falls’. Later, after Samuel Baker’s so-called ‘discovery’ it was called ‘Baker’s Falls’ 🤔

Samuel Baker killed more than 1500 Elephants lived in Horton Plains and mountain region in Sri Lanka, saying "HUNTING " and after the death of Baker it was recorded that Even his grave was vandalized by lightning strikes

Actually, it was Thomas William Rogers (another elephant hunter) that got struck by lightning. His grave is now in Nuwara Eliya, where the grave also got struck by lightning.

Does or did Sri Lanka ever have wild Water Buffalo? I've read that wild Water Buffalo are rare in Asia since they favor lowland habitats that have mostly been converted to agriculture.

Yes, there are water buffaloes in Sri Lanka. Like you said, they are only found in the lowlands. For instance, there are plenty of water buffaloes at Yala and Wilpattu National Parks (both of which are in the lowlands).

Yes, mainly for ‘sport’ and under the guise of protecting their tea/coffee plantations.

Can we not reintroduce elephants to horton plains?

It’s a possibility. Recently, there was a plan to reintroduce to the Gaur to Horton Plains.

@@AegleCreations what impacts might it cause to the exisiting eco system for the reintroduction of elephants to horton plains?
@AegleCreations

@@iamyoshi1923 I don’t think there’d be a major impact to the ecosystem. Elephants still roam the Adam’s Peak Wilderness area, which close by. However, only 15 to 30 elephants are left. There’s a belief they may one day migrate to Horton Plains, though it seems unlikely for these reclusive elephants.
