⚠️ WARNING: Elevator machine rooms are VERY dangerous places! High voltages, moving parts and other hazards exist - risk of injury or even death! NEVER touch high voltage equipment and moving parts at all costs inside an elevator machine room!
It's been quite long since I made an elevator machine room video, so here's another one. Here we take a look at the machine room of a Mitsubishi traction elevator from 1990. The model is SPVF, the first Mitsubishi elevator model with a VVVF inverter control. In Japan, it was exclusively known as "ELEPET Advance V" whereas for export markets it was marketed as SPVF. Keep in mind that Mitsubishi have always been using different names for models designed for the Japanese and overseas markets.
I believe everything else here is still original since the elevator was first installed, and today it is still maintained by Mitsubishi as you can see on their safety related stickers on the wall. Being a modern elevator model dating back from the late 1980s, it uses a pure microprocessor controller, in this case the Mitsubishi VFCL series controller. Note the controller name is NOT the same as the elevator model name. I've heard someone (ehm..) claiming that the controller name of a Mitsubishi elevator is a model name, this is actually FALSE! It has nothing to do with the model name. Heck the metal plaque on the controller board clearly states "CONTROL PANEL" so whoever claimed it as the model name has been spreading misconception. And speaking of which, sadly the controller was completely shut here so I couldn't see the inside of it.
Motor sound is quite satisfying due to the implementation of variable frequency (VF) inverter. It's quite loud that you can even hear it in the elevator car. Another thing worth to note here is that when there are no further calls to serve the elevator will automatically return to the bottom floor and parks there. This seems to be a standard feature on many SPVF elevators. Lucky for me as I could make a longer video of the motor running without having to bring the elevator up and down manually.
