Just plug a hdmi cable to your graphics card going into your capture card "In" slot, and have your normal displayport into your gaming monitor. In your nvidia control panel settings go to display configuration and make it so that your hdmi is mirroring your main display, it'll say the name of your capture card as a detected second monitor. To make sure you are playing at 144hz go it adjust desktop size and position and set it to aspect ratio. and scale with your GPU and not display.

I know this is a bit late, and a more technical question, but since the HD60 Pro has a built in H.264 encoding chip, using it in a same PC recording setup should allow the capture card to handle the live encoding rather than your CPU, correct? I've been trying OBS and AMD ReLive to record/stream on occasion, but I'm tired of the performance drops I get, since I push a 240Hz monitor. Theoretically, as long as the card can handle the encoding, this would be a perfect solution for me. Thanks for your input!

I know im a bit late, but i have a few questions. 1. Do you have to compromise on max frames in games to record 60fps? For example, if you normally run a game at 100+ frames, will you be forced to limit that in game to 60 for smooth capture? 2. Can you use the capture card with streamlabs OBS as a video source, if so, does this complicate control over your stream like switching scenes from desktop to game etc... 3. With nvidia's NVENC options in programs like OBS, are these capture cards still worth the investment for single PC streaming, or do you think it would be best to just stream from the graphics card?

It depends on the game chat. If it goes through the game then it's part of the games audio on PC as far as the card is concerned. @dVerum

It won't lower it by itself, I think you will have to change the hz to 60. The only reason why you would want your monitor on 240hz is for your own sake. If you stream/record it will only capture 60fps (60hz), therefore there is no reason to have 240hz (for your Viewers), unless you want it your self. Your computer will have to work harder if you have 240hz on, maybe lower it down to 144hz while recording / streaming or even to 60/80hz.

Apologies for the late comment, but using the HD60 Pro, would it be possible to now use the Elgato Game Capture HD Software for recording - specifically using the on-board encoding chip (and thus save CPU) - while simultaneously streaming in OBS, thanks to the Multi App Support? I understand that previously you needed to close the Elgato Game Capture HD Software in order to use OBS, and that the only option to record and stream at the same time was through Master Copy in Elgato's own software. Asking this as currently doubting between buying the 4K60 Pro Mk.2 and HD60 Pro, and interested in the latter's on-board encoder purely from a CPU standpoint.
@RaceSimCentral
3 жыл бұрын
Because the device can only be used by one app at a time you would have to do this by recording raw footage using the HD60Pro and then capturing and streaming with OBS by another method, whether that is a second card fed by a splitter, duplicated output, or simply using window/game capture in OBS. I *think* there are some capture cards now that can be used by multiple programs at the same time though, might be worth checking for those. Avermedia has one.

To give you a thorough answer: If you use this card with their software to capture or stream footage it will use the onboard encoder and not touch your CPU or GPU much at all. This is one of the few (the only at the time within this price range) to have onboard encoding. If you use OBS with this card it'll use it as a source and still use either CPU or GPU (depending on which encoder you choose). If you use OBS without this card you can use the screen or the game as a source and it will use either CPU or GPU (depending on which encoder you choose).

What is the set up with ps3 using a hdcp splitter? I can't seem to be able to do it, might you have a diagram or steps that I can follow? 4k60pro, two 1080p monitors, hdcp splitter, 3 hdmi, pc with a graphics card. Might i need to get another hdmi/dvi/display port cause my graghics card only has one hdmi input

I have a 240Hz 1080p monitor. When I installed the elgato, I noticed my screen dropped frames massively (probably 60 frames). Is this normal, or is this HDMI cable I'm using possibly 1.4 instead of 2.0+

Is there any real benefit from using something like this, compared to just using Shadowplay?
@Chronocrits
6 жыл бұрын
Orlyy Shadow play has shown quite regularly that it is a great source for shorter clips. Recording for 40 minutes to an hour often leads to reports of terrible de-sync and frame drops. Dedicated capture cards are able to record for a lot longer and hold a more consistent quality in my experience.

A capture card is for capturing footage from one PC and then exporting it to another. So if you are just going to use your PC for streaming and gaming it will have no function

You can use an adapter. DP to HDMI. A good HDMI cable can carry anything you'd be wanting to send via HDMI, including audio.

Probably a little late for anyone to reply, but since the main display isn’t connected directly to the GPU, wouldn’t that affect performance like increased latency and the monitor not outputting the native frames that its rated to (like 144Hz)?
@88mphtim
Жыл бұрын
The card can pass through higher framerates than it's capable of capturing, so you playing at 144Hz wouldn't be an issue. There's increased latency in the same way that there is with a longer HDMI cable, that's all. The only addition being the time it requires to pass through the data.

Is it better to hook up a capture card to your graphics card and stream through the capture card, or is it better to stream straight through screen capture through obs software?
@88mphtim
3 жыл бұрын
It's generally better to use the capture card as a source in OBS... So, both :) When you capture a specific window or game it can be difficult for OBS sometimes, especially with older games... But if you are capturing what the screen is seeing (what the cap card sees padding through it) then you have no issues. Also if you are capturing a console obviously using this as a source works, too. No way to do that on Windows unless you stream to the xbox app or something.
@MillennialMayhem

@@88mphtim i guess I meant streaming through a single pc. I could hook my graphics card to the card and the card to my monitor, and use it as an input source. I just don’t know if it’s worth the money to get it for that pr of its better to use just obs and use screen capture?
@88mphtim

@@MillennialMayhem For a single PC I would just capture the window and save yourself the money. As far as I'm aware all capture cards that can do 1080p60 use the CPU or GPU for encoding anyway, as you would without one. If you were using a second PC this is a good way to get the picture to go into that second machine.

Yeahh the problem only is that i do not own a HDMI monitor yet, and i can use one of those HDMI to DVI connector i guess, which wouldn't add a delay of some kind i think, I though about picking this up becausei do game streams and upgrading my CPU would be more money as i need a new Motherboard also. CPU upgrade would costs me in tot a 360, where as this would cos me 200. We all have them money problems right?

I currently own FX8320, currently looking ot upgrade to a Xeon E3 1231v3, I already figured out how the setup worked which confused me a little at first.. My CPU occasionally reaces a 100% load whilest streaming cause massive frame drops to around 10 fps which makes the game stutter and slow for a small period of time, Depending how CPU demanding a game is, But if i can use a DVI adapter with no issue than i guess i try that, All i stream is 720P@30, and perhaps with the capture card i'd up that to 60 even.

If your Graphics Card has 2 or more Outputs Connect 1 of the outputs to the input of the capture card and mirror your main screen to this output. In this solution you dont need the output of the elgato and you can keep your 144hz, because the elgato only takes the mirrored input.
