The thing is, I can see both sides. Elizabeth at the beginning of the interview is really short and honestly, seems quite rude, borderline condescending. Imagine if it was a real interview - she wouldn't get the job because first impressions are made immediately and Elizabeth wasn't doing herself any favours by coming off as cold and short from the very beginning. However, Linda ends up telling her that making a decent profit out of her business isn't good enough and then goes on to tell her that her idea is too simple and just starts digging at her needlessly - "Your flowers don't look that special to me". Yeah, I know they're supposed to do that but I totally understand people being on Elizabeths side here, you can scrutinise someones business and offer critique without being an asshole about it.

There is usually someone they build up to be unbearable or a villain in The Apprentice each series. It makes good TV after the editing. Elizabeth was outspoken to say the least , but you could see she had a fun side to her too at times. I remember her doing some flower arranging and telling the flowers how much she had missed them🤣.Frankly they knew what they were getting in the final - they always do. They knew her character, her business plan. If a flower delivery business was too simple to be of interest then why let her progress this far? Linda Plant is a shrewd business lady and good for the TV producers , but I think her proven abilities are wasted on the show. She could do some great mentoring instead of playing the formidable interviewer on one episode a year like this. All the interviewers trying to be tough comes across as a bit of a caricature to me. She clearly has a lot of knowledge to share.

Viewers love the immense tension of the interview stage and Linda does fantastically well at sharply critiquing the candidates' business plans. I'm sure Linda could play the mentor but in a program like The Apprentice that'd be rather boring. The caricature bent to the interviews is wholly necessary because it's like running a gauntlet before the final boss battle-it's built up so very appealingly people will tune in to see what happens because the capacity for scathing remarks is insatiable.

Not only did this lady failed to take the opportunity offered by the candidate, she should have been the one to request a start over if she truly believe in her capabilities an as interviewer. What would Linda class as "good' NP ? Making a profit is the main thing. There's so many entrepreneurs and companies who are great at bringing in sales but horrible at making money ie. profit. A 3.6% NPM may not seem great but those numbers have to be compared to the industry average. Obviously there is very little to differentiate products in floristry. I mean you can't change the way flowers are. It's about creating a brand around your business. What I got fed up with this style of show versus the earlier seasons where they were fighting for a job was that business plans should have been vetted before picking candidates for the show where all had viable businesses that Sugar would happily invest in. Instead, people are chosen, someone performs well in tasks and makes it to the final only to be rejected because their business plan is poorly done, the business is flawed or that Sugar didn't see himself investing in a particular type of business. I mean whats the point.

If she'd tried to blag, Linda would have interrupted her midflow and said: "it's just a florist". Elizabeth's short answer saved Linda the trouble. :)

Linda Plant starts every interview with a clearly provocative attitude and is habitually obnoxious. Her problem here was that Elizabeth got in first, refused to bite and clearly turned the tables on her. OOoops - Linda nearly fell off her shoes !

Linda is my least favourite interviewer to be honest. I feel like she’s trying too hard to be harsh. She never lets people respond and she makes very personal judgements but doesn’t provide any evidence for them.

Tombstoner Forever but not by being a prat. When a small business owner has come for an interview and her figures show a profit after she has drawn a salary she has already done well and better than 70% other small and medium sized business owners. Linda holds a directorship to 60 odd companies and overall net worth is -19k. What on earth is she asking here???

There is a right way to grill by asking as many questions to see how far their competence reaches not blatantly offend the candidate.

Tombstoner Forever This style of interviewing is totally old school nowadays. It makes good TV, but the bad cop attitude is more at home in the 90’s. Any decent company worth working for would never use this technique in the real world.

Linda wants Elizabeth to defend herself and show passion. There are people like Linda in the real world when you go for interviews, only worse. You have to be polite, defend yourself and your business. If she says the profit is small, tell her you're working on it or something. If you made a mistake, then acknowledge it.

I run a business. I went to an investor with my plans. He asked me about the business. I told him that I make pots and then sell ‘em. And that’s it, he asked. Yes, what more do you want knobber, I said. He then told me to go away. I don’t know what I did wrong. He didn’t invest. I’m gutted.

Sometimes the interviewer needs a good taste of their own medicine. I was actually lucky years ago to put a interviewer in their place and make them look dum in front of their own interview panel. It works both ways…

£18,000 profit a year from 3 shops is honestly not that good lol. That's a £6k profit per shop every year. For comparison the shop that my boyfriend works at makes about 6k every day.
