It wasn't just about her beauty that is timeless and effortless, her charm and her flirtatious personality were equally attractive and hypnotising, she had this contagious persona about her which she could easily drawn our attention to her whether in public by audiences or in the movies. Her overall persona and obviously her insanely drop dead gorgeous look made her presence easily hard not to miss, not to mention how likable and approachable she was without demanding from us too much of the attention but rather be just not forcing herself. Plus, she will always be remembered as one of the Hollywood legends for her talented acting skills and legacy. RIP.

No. She looked her best when her hair was longer and full of loose body. Like in her movie the Sandpiper with Richard Burton and in some scenes in Cleopatra. The big, bouffant hair just made her look much older and more matronly. JMHO

Her early movies: National Velvet, Lassie Come Home, Cynthia, Father of the Bride, to name a few are great classics and thanks to technology can be viewed forever. Elizabeth was really delightful when she was in a good mood or has a couple of drinks. Most of her interviews and public appearances were stiff, soft spoken and awkward. Most movie stars are not comfortable around live audiences, since they don't act in theater environments, but Elizabeth had acted in a number of live theater venues, and she could be warm and funny in front of audiences. She never took herself too seriously, which was one of her great qualities that revealed her warmth, and down to earth nature. She always wanted to play comedy, and in many of her serious dramatic roles, comedy often tried to emerge at times. Since she could be a very 'earthy broad' at times, I think she would have been a 'natural' at playing comedy. It's a shame she never got the chance to explore that side of her personality through acting more than she did. Audiences would have loved her in comedy, especially when she made herself the brunt of her own jokes. We still miss her very much. Hollywood doesn't make stars like Elizabeth anymore. ' Beautiful woman, talented actress and lovely person.

My best friend was Taylor's addiction therapist @ Betty Ford and they remained friends for many years. He said she was her own woman, lived her life her way, and most certainly enjoyed her celebrity. An amusing anecdote was that no matter which of her residences she would visit, the pool boy there was strictly there for her personal enjoyment. He always felt that her addiction issues came from having such poor health. She came close to death many, many times, and the pain medications fueled her problems, which led to other addictive substances. He said although she was the biggest of starts, she retained her humanity, was most generous, and had boundless compassion. One would not necessarily know it, especially because she cussed like a sailor. She was smart as a whip and never let her therapist win when they played Scrabble for hours on end. She truly was an enigma and one of my friends most unique patients.

Not that I putter about wondering what I might have in common with the famous (or infamous) of history, but in this one, rare instance, I realized that I DO have one thing in common with Elizabeth Taylor. That one thing has saved me from some of the most tragic and sad moments of my life, and I believe Ms. Taylor has it in abundance……the ability to laugh at oneself. I know that I laugh at my foibles and errors and moments of true vulgarity, and this clip of her handing out just one award (though with 238+ possible recipients), I realized that she, too can laugh at herself. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why she has made it through so much tragedy and pain. Just can't take oneself too seriously, period…and those who do, I am afraid, depart this world embittered and resentful. Sure, got some resentment stored in me, too, but in the end, that, too, is to be laughed at. So, 'Liz' and I, hey, we have something in common and it is a good, life saving thing. Am glad about it. Doesn't change anything, but am still glad I saw the video and noted it, immediately. OK…back to being self deprecating. Happy Holidays!

***** Ok, as I don't go about seeking commonalities, yet simply noted one when viewing the above video, I feel safe now that you have cleared it up. I think, in all honesty, that I could use a bit more narcissism in my life, though the tragedy I have in plenty. Thank you for pointing all that out.

***** This is old news now but you are actually a jerk. Sarmadasco clearly stated at the very beginning of the comment that they don't wonder about things they have in common with famous people but just happened to notice this one. Even though you were just being stupid, why would commonalities with Marilyn Monroe or anybody else be mentioned when this video is about Elizabeth Taylor? Who would have ever guessed that on a video about Elizabeth Taylor people would be talking about Elizabeth Taylor? Yeah... anyway so just thought I would 'voice' my thoughts on the matter since I was passing through... Go drink the water under the sink :)
