People repeating something akin to, "if it doesn't look like the tornado is moving, then it's moving towards you" on every tornado video, are becoming an absolute scourge to tornado videos, almost to the point where it's effectively trolling. 🙄 A miniscule amount of directional awareness, (which anyone age 12 or older should possess), can tell you whether a sighted tornado is moving towards you, away from you or laterally. ⬅️🌪➡️↩️

Can I just emphasise on how calm and composed was the person filming it? A). He held camera/phone in a correct orientation, understanding why we have eyes side by side, not one above the others. B). He set the composition of the frame, doing little to no adjustments (no panning and zooming in and out in an overexaggerated manner). C). He remained calm and composed, setting the end line in his head (The 2nd tree line, behind the field), meaning he knew in advance when to give up and go for shelter, instead of being lured into this mesmerising spectacle for too long for safe retreat. Absolutely fantastic work. I hope you are far into the clean-up and rebuild, and the insurance company didn't do anything stupid to void the claim. I wish you a speedy recovery and consideration of becoming a professional storm chaser if you aren't already.

The multi-vortices and very clear rotation in the entire 'system' are incredible. Great video... I used to go out and take storm photos, including lightening, tornadoes, floods, etc when I lived in Texas, and have seen several tornadoes since moving back to IL- including one that went past my bedroom sliding glass doors, and pretty much left my home OK (just gutter damage from neighbors trees biting the big one), but neighbors' trees went through their garage roof and landed on/totaled a pickup truck. The neighbors on the other side lost several very mature trees, one clipping my gutter. The subdivision was a mess.

You could tell it would slightly miss when they were outside. You can tell it was originally heading straight after them though. Roughly 5:00 - 6:30 it looks to have shifted slightly right turning into a slightly more northerly heading. I’m sorry to see your beautiful home take damage! You got incredible video of it. Luckily you guys didn’t take a direct hit. Isn’t it wild how selective tornado damage can be? You guys didn’t even lose power in the video. Hope everyone was okay! ❤

The best part of the video, for me, was the fact that the first gentleman taping doesn't talk very much, isn't yelling, & holds the picture steady

Hate these things!! Sad to see the damage after so much effort to create such a beautiful property. That little weather vane didn’t stand a chance, nor the out buildings. Only good thing I see is your well built home held up well and hopefully kept you safe! Best wishes to you.

It's amazing that huge wall cloud was rotating so fast, and it was miles across. The energy in all the air and water moving at those speeds is terrifying.

Some years ago I saw a test / demonstration of how different roofing materials stand up to very high winds. To my surprise, asphalt shingles did the best because they're flexible and therefore are less likely to be torn off. The more solid materials like what's on the roof of this house are more prone to destruction, because if one fails and is torn off, the wind can immediately get under all the others nearby and rip them away too.

Awesome footage! The scary thing is, this wasn’t even an actual direct hit. At worst, the outer rim of the tornado hit. It reminds me a lot of the El Reno tornado where a lot of the storm was on the ground, but you couldn’t tell it was part of the tornado because it was so wide.
