I saw this performance along with a couple hundred shocked fans at the Sunset street fair. I don’t remember him finishing a single song. Maybe he did. A girl next to me cried in disbelief. The audience instead of booing him off tried hard to be encouraging hoping he’d get it together. Most had walked away shaking their heads long before he gave up and left the stage... I had seen him in ‘99 at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit just before I moved to LA, and the difference in 2 years could not be believed.

its so hard to see him struggle through his own songs, im pretty sure this was during the height of his heroine use. He was such an amazing guy, and it tears me up just watching this. Especially because he seems so sad and frustrated throught the whole thing. :(

Oh man poor guy, this song is beautiful, the vulnerability i wish he could have healed his lack of self worth. Ive hit the bottom a bit myself, its crippling without self love you cant give properly. I can be so needy as a kid my boundaries felt out of place. I felt unsafe like i had to be someone i wasnt for my parents. They are lovely people i dont know why this happened now i feel so vulnerable to share feelings and emotions. And then they end up coming out the wrong way too intense delayed and broken. At the moment the only thing i find healing is music. I love people so much but cant show or express it to them in a healthy caring way.

this is elliott when he was using. he was very fucked up and didn't know where he was. he told me that fucking up a live song was like not being able to get an erection, not being able to finish a song. i miss him.

The title of the song itself lends to purposeful suggestion. Everyone wants to hear that things are fine and a person is doing okay. This is his re-assurance, even though it might blatently seem not okay. He says everything's okay. So it's got to be right? That's the thing he's telling everyone whether he is or isn't.

Are they supposed to be the same melody but different lyrics? Sorry. Confused and actually comparing the two studio recordings now. Got sidetracked by this infamous live performance.

It was really that red? I saw a photo of him as a young child with more of a blonde tone to his hair! Either way, I find him to be a beautiful man. I like his imperfections and not one of us is perfect anyways!

The official reason as to why this show is so bad is that Elliott slept on his hand on the flight and couldn't play the guitar properly now there's no denying he's under he influence of something here but he was for lots of other shows and never put a performance like this he was high as a kite for mos tof the Basement on a hill recordings and the guitar on that is near perfect so I think there's some creedence to the hurt hand hting he was never this bad before or after.....

wasn't that a different show? your story's right, i had the audio for the show you're talking about. he brings it up a bit, so i don't think it was this one
