Only Elliott Smith could cover a Lennon song - make it sound completely his own yet 100% as good as the original. What a loss for music, but so thankful he was here in the first place. RIP Sweet Elliott.

I agree that it’s better than the original. I love The Beatles but and though I still respected Lennon’s writings I didn’t much care for them while he would sing them. I liked some Paul McCartney and Wings cause my dad was so into it. I rlly liked George Harrison’s solo stuff tho. Funny how he was perceived as the weakest link out of the 3 main writers in The Beatles yet IMO had the best solo stuff. Elliott Smith could sing anything and make it great, though. I wish he would’ve done more country covers though.

Cell phones. They aren’t a bad creation (‘cept the propaganda sucks if you fall for it on social medias) but folks need limit their time on it like anything else in life. Hell, just since the last time I started listening to Elliott Smith again I’ve found about 2-3 records worth of his music that I hadn’t previously heard. “True Love” is literally one of my favorites now. (ES had always been my fav but I have to take a break every once in awhile) Anyways, the state of American is pretty brutal as well. So damn divided. We’re losing our identity as a nation. Folks are letting religious beliefs into law as well as, on the other side, folks are trying to silence art I.E. Chappelle.

Speaking as a recovering heroin addict myself, I know about officials' disinterest in "junkies" all too well. Elliott was a very troubled individual and, like many recovering addicts, the initial months of no longer using - i.e the first few months of NOT having drugs deadening his emotions - were always going to be difficult for someone with such suicidal ideation anyway. As such, in the most empathetic way possible, Occam's Razor still dictates his own hand in his death.

I love this. I don't know why, but this just gets to my soul. It's truly remarkable, what Lennon has made. In contrast, however, this is just poetry in its purest, feelings at their most raw. like many people think. Elliott had been sober for 6 months prior to his death and they found no drugs in his system except prescribed an anti-depressant and ritalin. The coroners report stated the knife wounds were consistent with homicide and as alaska said not-typical of suicide. Chiba also happened to of been taking a shower when she ran out of the bathroom, and pulled the knife out of his chest...which really, is a big coincidence.
