dude, i know exactly what you mean. I don't even care if he stops in the middle of a song, because compared to ANY artist these days, they have NOTHING on him. He was the greatest song writer of our generation, and one of the most talented musicians as well. I miss this guy, I pray that I'll be able to meet him in some other realm, the best I can do is try to learn to play the songs, and appreciate the music.

I'd be like, "What the hell are you doing talking through his set? It's Elliott Smith! He's great!" I had that feeling like, “Someday you idiots will shut up and listen to him.” I remember telling him, "People won't shut up, it's making me so angry." And he's like, "I like it better this way. It makes me less self-conscious."

Sure, drop D tuning works. Unless you're already down a full step in standard tuning, which is how Elliott usually played (and how I always play my acoustic). I'm not sure if he's tuned down here (don't have perfect pitch or a guitar handy), but it looks like he's stretching across 5 frets to me. In any case, your point is well taken. :)

I always call it Home To Oblivion. But I think that's wrong. I mean, these days people (artists/bands) just name the song after the most used line or most repeated word in the song itself. But a title represents a summary of what the song is about. I think No Name #1 through 4 were just chapters of his story in Roman Candle, and he couldn't come with a good title for any of them. Though No Name is a perfect title. Like most writers, I'm sure he thought of titles after he wrote the songs. RIP ES
