As an Indian i find your method very easy to understand and implement and I'm sure students from the west can understand that if we Indians and Chinese can understand it then the teacher is really a great teacher.

I beg to differ. Major axis for ellipse is the longer axis. It can be vertical or horizontal depending on the shape of the ellipse.

Would you not multiply your final result of 2 root 6 by 48 to get back to the original equation? So actual result is 96 root 6?
