I like the contrast between the military-style case and the light green of the machine. It's fun watching people's eyes pop open in surprise when they see what's inside.

The bobbin case is not meant to rotate. Maybe the needle is in backwards and the bottom thread is not being picked up.

Hi Wayne Schmidt, how are you? My name is Desalegn Tesfaye. I am an artist and designer, am looking for your help if you Can? I found this Elna grasshopper machine on some market where I used to buy things. So it's really fascinating, It is such a beautiful thing, I would really love it if you have any solution to fix this machine. I don't want to just put it only as a treasure or something vintage. I need it to run it and work with this machine. The thing is it has something wrong with it, the fuse is not working. And I can send the motor part picture if you are willing to help me out. . . . . . Meanwhile thank you for what you are doing on KZitem Sincerely Desalegn Tesfaye.

I'm very sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Elsa's electrical system.

HI Desalegn Tesfaye, mine is 220 volts, while the average household outlet is 110. I was told to purchase a step-up converter to give the machine enough energy to run. The voltage can be found on the receptor at the back of the motor.

They are fun machines to use, though I find the leg switch awkward. I apologize for not replying sooner, but I just got home from a long stay in the hospital.

There are a lot around, but to find a complete one with case and attachments is not so easy. A lot of sellers like to sell the case and attachments separately.

I checked ours and the the belt is 3/16ths inch in diameter and 11 & 3/8th inches long. I found one for sale on Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/276768430/elna-sewing-machine-drive-belt-number?gpla=1&gao=1&&CjwKCAjwjYKjBhB5EiwAiFdSfvE3Z-5kKO-jvNYvL6QhKs0E5o74TY_YcJOkgNdGdD2A8TuvIH5IMhoCNOwQAvD_BwE_k_&gclid=CjwKCAjwjYKjBhB5EiwAiFdSfvE3Z-5kKO-jvNYvL6QhKs0E5o74TY_YcJOkgNdGdD2A8TuvIH5IMhoCNOwQAvD_BwE I hope this helps.

another option would be to make one. Here's an Amazon link to 3/16ths inch diameter rubber cording: www.amazon.com/CleverDelights-Black-Solid-Rubber-Cord/dp/B07VVDX1MH/ref=sr_1_50?crid=2VA60W2KDQOUM&keywords=6+mm+rubber+cording&qid=1684122244&sprefix=6+mm+rubber+cording%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-50 Cut a piece to length with a razor and super glue the ends together. Rubber super glues very strongly. If you have a belt from another machine, you could cut it down to size, though it's probably going to be a 1/4 inch diameter belt, which is going to be a little tough to slide around the pulley on the motor. Good Luck!

I just realized I failed to answer your question about, "how to change the belt." The motor pulley and machine pulley are both located on the lower right of the machine. Once you have a new belt, all you have to do is stretch it over them so the motor can drive the machine.
