Harri -- you have good ears! On this ELO song and a few others, there is a lot of Kelly Groucutt singing (ELO's bass player). He had a higher register than Jeff Lynne, so when you hear a lot of falsetto-ey vocals, he probably includes his voice (often mixed with Jeff's).

One of my favorite bands. Out of the Blue was my first album by ELO. Turn to Stone was their greatest hit. Saw them live a few years ago. Sounded as good or even better than the studio recordings. Played all my favorite songs. The concert in 2020 was canceled due to covid. Hope to see them live again. The concert in Wembley at 2017 has a great video with very good sound. Saw them a year later in my country. Thank you for this reaction.

Harri you always listen to these songs in isolation but please listen to the whole album end to end and it will make far more sense musically. I grew up in the 1960s and 70s, as other people here did as well no doubt, and Out Of The Blue was amazing the first time I heard it. It felt like the first time I heard Abbey Road, Dark side of the Moon or A Night At The Opera.

Jeff is the lead singer for all songs. From 1975 through 1983, bass player Kelly Groucutt sang backup harmonies which greatly contributed to their classic vocal sound. Kelly also took a rare lead vocal line or two on a couple songs. Luckily, there are plenty of KZitem videos of “Jeff Lynne’s ELO” playing live during their last couple sold out arena tours. Turn To Stone is fine, but Mr. Blue Sky is a treat. I suggest you look up “Eldorado/Can’t Get It Out Of My Head” combination live. It was their first top 10 hit in 1974, displays the “ELO majesty”, and you haven’t reviewed it yet. kzitem.info/news/bejne/1IOBtIVmmpx3e2U

As Jeff had to cancel his recent tour because of the pandemic, I guess he will do another when circumstances permit. You definitely should go, I'm not much of a concert-goer myself, but there are a few artists that I have seen live, and it was an experience for life each time. (The two most memorable were Jean-Michel Jarre's Arro concert and Brian Wilson's Pet Sounds anniversary tour, but Jeff Lynne's ELO in 2018 as a strong third.)
