Ahhh yes! With Ray you don't just get a percussionist... you get a conductor, a musician and performer all in one. Just look at that gong... you know he means business! There's a good reason why all the big names seek him out for their concerts and sessions.

Ray Cooper just blows me away. I saw him in person and he did a solo, in MI many many years ago. When he did his solo it was with JUST a gong. At first everyone got real still and as he got going, we all stood and I swear just SCREAMED and YELLED through out the set. There was a woman sitting next to me that just started shaking and crying she was so moved. I asked her if she was ok and she said yes, I just wasn't expecting that. He is THAT awesome.

I think this was the “Million dollar piano” set at Caesars Palace. I saw this while I was there. We were in LV, wanted to see a concert and had a choice of either Sheryl Crow or Elton that night. So glad we choose the latter. Absolutely awesome concert. I was converted to be an Elton fan as a result (after hearing him played for years by my parents). Ray was awesome too.

Wouldnt be much of a show without the animation... Ray Cooper is a fantastic percussionist, in the studio he compliments and never overshadows Nigel Olsson, his tambourine adds a much needed "laying it back" feel when Roger Pope was on drums... if Elton didn't want his extravagant visual performance, he wouldnt be there. it's great entertainment and great fun

What were those drums that Cooper was thumping on during Indian Sunset? I really want to know because they sound like those drums in a symphonic orchestra, kinda like what Hans Zimmer uses in his epic action music scores as well as the similarly composed “trailer music” genre, OR like WAR DRUMS!!! Or TAIKOS!!! That EXPLODE upon impact, going like, “BOOM!” 💥 I attended the Elton John concert in Winnipeg (my hometown 🏡) on October 5 this year and I was more amazed by the percussionist and his assortment of percussion instruments. My attention was more focused on Cooper rather than Elton, the big star himself!!! 🥁😄
