I love the song, the way they perform Softly as I leave you. I know it's about a Man who was dying from Cancer. And he was down to his last three days, and his Wife wouldn't leave him. After being awake for 3 days and 3 nights, no matter how hard you try. Your Body will fall asleep. I always felt Elvis, was singing that to Priscilla. He didn't want her to see him slip away due to the drugs. Regardless of what Elvis's Fans thought of Priscilla. Elvis really did love her. He even stated in an interview, sometimes your heart doesn't know what's good for you. Anyone who was in love, and watched their love one, slip away to the control of drugs. It's like a double death. The Person you fell in live with. Before they became so addicted. To the beast the poison does to their Soul, heart, everything you fell in love with about that Person. The drugs robs that Person of so much. The life they wanted, the Person they wanted to be. They feel no one understands, because they don't understand what is going on themselves. I had read that Elvis, did not feel he had an addiction. Because they were all prescribed by a Physician. Elvis was a very Proud Man. He wanted to be the type of Man, his Mother would of been so proud of. There's been a lot written, about how Elvis wouldn't make love to Priscilla, after their Daughter was born. I believe, it wasn't Elvis didn't want to make love to Priscilla. I believe once Priscilla gave birth to Lisa. Elvis put Priscilla on a higher pedestal. He knew his Mother would not of approved of the things, he was doing. Elvis had a hard time accepting Vernon getting involved with Dee. That was after his Mother had passed. Although Elvis said those things to his Father, before, Elvis had married Priscilla. I feel Elvis's Mother would not of approved of the decisions Elvis had made. We know the Army was the one who got Elvis addicted to the medication, and how he had his days and nights mixed up. Elvis knew his Mother would not of approved of Elvis and all the affairs he had. I believe Elvis, saw Priscilla as a Mother. Which She is. It almost seems Elvis was afraid to make love to Priscilla, because in Elvis's mind, Elvis had a tremendous amount of respect for his Mother and for the Mother of his Child. I don't believe it was because he didn't love her, I feel it was because he loved her and their Daughter. That's why whatever Priscilla wanted, She always knew she could count on Elvis, and the same with Elvis. There's a lot more to their relationship than what We know. No matter what they went through whether together or apart. They were always there for each other. If the drug programs that are around today, were around back then. If Elvis would of been able to go into one of those places, who knows maybe Elvis and Priscilla would of stay married. You know the saying, if you love Someone, set them free. If they come back to you, it was meant to be. If not than let them be. Elvis and Priscilla have always been there for each other in one way or another. Elvis knew he was losing Priscilla, because of the drugs. Elvis denied he had a problem because it was a Dr. in the Military who prescribed them to him. And Elvis loved America. I believe he couldn't believe that People he thought he could trust in the Military, he couldn't. Softly Elvis the Entertainer slipped away. That song / poem is a powerful song/ poem. So is "The Letter" sung by Wayne Newton / and even Elvis Presley. Listen to the story of how Wayne Newton allegedly got the part Elvis wrote.

' You Can Have Her' is my favourite song out of all of them but #3 'It's Midnight' Is the most impactful performance because Elvis is clearly singing to Priscilla and it's heartbreaking. That's what you can putting your heartbreak into the music Elvis really lived with the pain after the divorce and it was a mountain he couldn't get over no matter how hard he tried and those leg moves were nerves running through him. This was Elvis naked and stipped bare and his voice is awesome. Awesome! It's Midnight all the way.

I was talking to a fellow Elvis fan about his career and as we were talking, the word, I have been looking for to describe 1974 and beyond as it pertains to Elvis. This is the year that his live performances started sounding as if he were angry. Yelling the songs if you will.. Some Eta's do this, to cover the fact they don't have the range. When they do it, I call it being bombastic. It is more noticeable, when ETA's in their teens, sing 70's Elvis. They try to cover up the lack of fully matured vocal cords. You can also hear, it in Elvis' speaking voice. He is definitely communicating his mood to his audience. Sadly, most were blind to it. They still are today over 40 yrs later.

Elvis signs/billboards were all over the place so I was aware of him, just not a fan of his films. We did go see Don Ho at the International while Elvis was there. Maybe we couldn't get Elvis tickets. I kinda feel like I missed the train. I recently bought a bunch of CDs/vinyls and I listen to at least part of his gospel album every day; my favorite. I've been a 50 year John Denver fan and just recently learned that JD got some members of the TCB band members for a short time. I was watching a show you were showing with the white suit long fringe and Elvis said something about how he had sold more than some other artists my tablet went down before I could respond but I am older and remember whenthe press was beating Elvis up it was called The British Invasion and all those groups and Jones came from UKareas Elvis was true blue American and wanted his fans to know he was still on Top he never liked to brag but he was sick of what they. being the Press were saying I saw those papers and they really hurt him inside

It sounds like he was losing it, due to messing up his marriage. His comments to Priscilla say a lot, and to the audience.... I have to say Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues.

I like good time charlie got the blues but I don't think you saying there is not a lot of really good performances from 1974 the two concerts on the elvis recorded live in memphis on the legacy label are out standing that's any track I'd like to know what other fan's think 🤔

I’m not saying good concerts I’m saying actual performances. How great thou art won him a Grammy but I don’t particularly find it a very good performance. I had to do a few that were just interesting like Good Time Charlie’s got the Blues and it Midnight.

I didn't like your choices I think that there where some very great performances in 1974 are you talking about this movement or his voice. I do like your posting tho.
