Hey Spa, just wanted to tell you that I appreciate all these videos you've put up! I love Elvis, always have and always will!! I'm a heavy metal guy, I like bands like Pantera and Slayer, those kind of bands. I love that kinda music, and always will, BUT, my main Man is EP!! I love the guy!! NOTHING OR NO ONE Will EVER CHANGE THAT!! It's hard to explain why I've always been drawn to that guy!! He has, and ALWAYS will have a place in my heart!! I thank the good Lord above that I was raised in a home where Elvis was being played on a daily basis!! To this day, the highlight of my life was getting to see him live in concert! Even though I was only 7 yrs old at the time, I remember it VERY VIVIDLY!! I remember all of it, just as if it happened 5 min ago! It's funny how that is, that I can remember that concert so vividly, but yet I sometimes can't remember things that happened yesterday, or a year ago, but I sure remember seeing Elvis in concert! What a great memory!! It was in 1976 when I saw him. Me, my two brothers, and our Mom and Dad lived in Houston. My Grandpa was In the Navy, and at that particular time my Grandparents were stationed in Connecticut. My Grandma somehow talked my parents into letting me come up and stay with them for a few weeks. One of my Uncle's was an over the road truck driver, and he just so happened to be taking a load up to Groton Connecticut where my Grandparents were stationed. So my Grandma finally talked my Mom and Dad into letting me come up there. Riding in that big eighteen wheeler at 7 yrs old was the most fun I ever had! My Grandma told me on the phone just before we left to head up that way that "She had a big surprise for me when I got there" Little did I know that I'd be going to see Elvis the second night I was there! As soon as I walked in the door I was already asking about my surprise. When she said "You want to go see Elvis tomorrow night" I remember screaming and jumping up and down and saying "Yes Yes Yes" I remember that so well! All my family, my parents, my Uncle's, my Aunt, and Grandparents were all major Elvis fans! That next night, me, my grandma, and my Aunt headed to Providence Rhode Island were Elvis playing that night! We were seated in the 7th row just to the right of where JD and the Stamps were on the stage! I remember being very impatient and asking my Grandma several times "When's Elvis coming out"? It's funny, as I'm typing this I'm smiling, because just remembering it all makes me happy. I remember all the lights going down, and 2001 a space odyssey started playing! I SO VIVIDLY remember him walking out on that stage, and that place went crazy! I also remember all the flashes from all the people's cameras! I remember just staring at him, I couldn't take my eyes off of him, he had that kinda effect on me, and I was only 7 yrs old!! I remember him coming out wearing that outfit that I've always called the "Twin Bird" with the white sleeves, it may have been the powder blue sleeves, but definitely one of the two! and he had on that Bicentennial belt!! I remember my Grandma and Aunt taking turns going down to the stage to try and get a scarf. My Aunt actually got a scarf while he was doing "Don't be cruel" and tossing scarfs out! My Aunt and this other lady actually caught the same scarf, and neither one would let go! They were playing tug of war with that scarf! It ended up ripping in two. She still has that half of scarf lol! I remember my Grandma holding my hand and trying to get closer down to the stage. The closest we could get to the stage was like second row, I just remember him being about 15 to 20 feet away, and feeling kinda spellbound just watching him up there! He was singing "Early morning rain"!! Even though I was just 7 yrs old, I REMEMBER IT REAL GOOD!! My Aunt still has all the pictures she took! It was EPIC 4sure!! I'll never forget it!!! Anyways.......Spa, just thought I'd share that with you! Again, thanks so much for doing what you're doing with these videos!!👌 God bless u my brother! 👍👍

Aron when an Epic story.. I teared up reading that story because he was bigger than life and your memory of that day is forever etched in your mind and there are millions who saw him and have similar recollections... It is very telling of what it was to see Elvis in concert and the lifelong impact it made on you.. You even play a different kind of music but I bet even in that music Elvis was an influence on you even being a musician.. I was Geddy in A Rush cover band way back in the day so I played some rock myself but was heavily influenced by Elvis to even become a musician as well as my dad who played too.. I was never lucky enough to see him but hearing these stories gives me an inside look at what it must have been like.. Thanks for sharing my friend!! Tighten Up!! Spa Guy

This is truly a great story!! My parents saw Elvis a few times. I wasn’t interested. What was I thinking?!! One of the few regrets in my life. I was a kid and Elvis to me was my parents type of music!! I was into The Who, Led Zeppelin etc etc. This story just goes to show what an impact Elvis had and still has on all of us. Thank you for sharing.

I finally found this video :) Lions like that were originally made for royalty. That`s why one lion is holding a shield. The shield was meant for engraving the family crest. Are there any engravings on the shield? These two sejant lions are the keepers of the gate (entrance). Lions traditionally symbolize strength, bravery, royalty, and valour. The LION is also rooted in Judeo-Christianity. The Lion of Judah. "Judah and the lion" can first be found in the Book Of Genesis. The Lion of Judah is also mentioned in the Book of Revelation, as a term representing JESUS (according to Christian theology). Considering that Elvis loved antiquities and their history, I believe he knew the deeper meaning of his lions. Thank you, Billy. It`s always such fun to travel with you. I will never have the opportunity to see Graceland and Elvis`s grave. That`s why I`m truly thankful for your videos. Also many thanks to Ashley Drew :)

Great video as usual - couple of things hope you can clear up or may be have to research for future vid - at 2.03 mins in on the vid it shows the dining room window open (which I have never seen before) and all the windows seem to have a security mesh over them but only at the bottom of the windows - this is different to what's on the windows now wondered when they were changed and also my second point at 5.35 mins you show a shot of the house (think you said that this is the route that the buses take pointing out where Elvis is laid etc) and just after the music room there is a little white building with massive doors (not sure if it is attached to the music room as there is a tree which obscures seeing clearly but saw it as you were panning round) was just wondering what this part of the building is and what it is used for (must admit that I hadn't noticed it before now). At 1:33 in this video you show an old photo of Graceland. If you look to the far right of Graceland, you can see a half moon shape of something. I believe the half moon constructed shape which is behind the graves and is the meditation gardens is this same piece. When the meditation gardens was constructed and designed , they kept this as part of it. Is there anyway you could research and find out what this section of Graceland was back before Elvis moved in?

I have a book titled "Elvis Presley's Graceland through the years 1957-1977" by Joseph Pirzada. I believe this book contains some wrong information regarding the lions. It reads "A close examination of these two statues, however, reveals that they are not identical, although they did start out that way. Legend has it that an intruder broke into the property, and was seen running away with one of the lions. When Elvis heard this, he laughed and said "If he wants it that bad, he can have it! I can always buy another one!" And buy another one he did, but wasn't able to find the identical match. This raises the question of where that lion is today." I don't believe this because I'm sure the lions are very heavy and just couldn't be picked up and ran off with. Just thought I would share that with you.
@SpaGuy
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robin, I have heard this story but if you go back to the photo and I will share it here as well there is a photo in the winter of 1957 showing the lions are different and they were purchased at the end of August..So that would have been a very short period of time for that story to happen and a new lion to be replaced as well as the people who sold the lions could have easily order him another one because that was their business.. No one could grab a lion made out of marble and run off with it and Graceland was gated at the time so the odds of that story happening is very low as well as the fact that Elvis would have chased him down and beat him up because that was his nature.. here is the photo I am talking about and the cars date it to the winter of 57.. You can clearly see the right lion has the heart and the left looks just like the one there now.. www.classiccarstodayonline.com/2017/10/06/if-youre-going-to-dress-up-as-elvis-for-halloween-you-should-know-a-little-about-his-personal-cars/graceland-christmas-1957/

T P now you have me wondering. I been to Graceland years ago and know for sure they are marble. I remember thinking they are white carrara, which is one of the most common colors in the marble family. Also one of the cheapest in price. We know Elvis loves white as well as blue. Blue marble is super rare and super expensive! So you would never paint over them! Lol Now you have me wondering?! Maybe Spa Guy knows this answer.
