My high school history teacher, Izak Chessir, served in the same platoon as Elvis in Germany. He didn’t tell us too much to respect his privacy, but he said he was really nice and served his country well. He even brought us his original copy of the platoon photo (same one GIV showed) to show my class! My teacher was in the second row, below Elvis to the left. Seeing this video makes me understand more of what he shared with my class about his experience.

Oh wow! That is so cool. My dad was stationed on the same base that Elvis was stationed at. He said he saw Elvis at the base once, walking with his agent & others. Some of my dad's Army buddies, went up to Elvis & asked for autographs,/take pictures with Elvis. My dad said the same thing, that Elvis was nice. Elvis Signed autographs, took pictures. Can't believe it, my dad was 15-20 feet away from Elvis. I asked my dad why he didn't get an autograph. He said 1)he didn't want to bother Elvis(he said he could imagine how many people wanted to get Elvis attention , 2)he was not into his music. lol. My dad was a big band type fan. RIP Dad.

My elderly father in-law is native-born German. He served in the US Army 4th Armored Division 1958-1960 near Schwabish Gmund, Banden Wurttenberg as an auto and tank mechanic. He was a Mercedes factory-trained mechanic and the best mechanic in the regiment. One day he was given a special assignment to make sure a Jeep was ready in tip-top shape. The next day, that Jeep was used to parade Elvis around in front of the troops. Says Elvis was very friendly and approachable.

I wish my dad was still alive and would ask him where he was stationed exactly & what unit he was with in Germany 1958-60-61. He was a truck driver. He was 15-20 feet away from Elvis, one day when Elvis was walking with his entourage. My dad said the same thing, that Elvis was friendly and approachable. My dad's Army buddies asked for Autographs & if they could take pictures with Elvis, and Elvis didn't turn them away. I asked my dad, why he never got an autograph or took a picture with Elvis...my dad said 1)he knew a lot of people wanted Elvis attention, but didn't want to bother him..2)he said his music was okay but was more of a big band music fan. RIP Dad.

What a nice thing to do for your mother! I was born in Germany to a German woman and an American G.I. Dad offered to take mom to go see Elvis but she wasn’t a fan. My Oma was a big fan and I became a fan too. I wish mom just had gone to see Elvis and taken me. It would’ve been so cool to have a picture of me at age 2 with Elvis! What a treasure that would’ve been!

Thanks for this fascinating tour of the actual hotel room that Elvis stayed in. Also, the locations that he was pictured in the town. I am like you, if I can literally be in a room that someone famous in history occupied during their life it is a "special" experience and you try to "pick up" any vibes from the room. You imagine that you are looking at scenes that they looked at so many years ago. It's great that you were able to take your Mom on this adventure. Take care, say hi to your Mom and your buddies. Have a pleasant and rewarding weekend.

What a tremendously amazing video! At first, I thought you were facing and filming into the sun but, it was your beautiful Mama's million watt smile!!! I get it when you said you get a great feeling when you visit places where a famous person has stayed or lived. It is THEIR ESSENCE remaining that has permeated the walls and furniture. Super cool that you did comparisons of "then and now" with the photos! In the past, I have plunked down serious green to stay at noteworthy hotels and motels! I was glad I did and I feel you in doing the same thing!!! Loved the photos of your Mama from "just a few years ago"!!! Keep on Rocking and thank you for taking us along on your journey! That was a special episode for sure. When you contrast the photos with the actual locations you are recording, and doing it several times, it allows the viewing audience to get a better grasp of the "then and now" comparison. Anyone who is an Elvis fan should not miss your latest recordings. BTW your colleague AdamtheWoo just visited the original site of the Woodstock concert in Bethel, NY. I visited there a couple of times myself about 10 years ago. I digress but keep up the good work and thanks again for unlocking another major era in Rock history!
