Cage was obsessed with Elvis, ALWAYS has been. Michael Jackson wanted to buy Elvis`s catalogue of music like he did the Beatles. He pretended to be Paul Mccartney`s friend and even put a record out together called, Say, Say, Say. He asked Paul for tips and he told Michael that buying catalogs of music from solo and group artists was the way to go, then he turned around and bought the Beatles. Paul never spoke to him again. Lisa wanted Michael to help her in the music business, he said he needed a wife for the accusations being said about him. He always wanted Elvis catalog but Pricilla shot that down real quick. Then they split.

When they first opened up Graceland for the public, they had an employee that would tell you everything about each room and general knowledge of Elvis and his family. You paid for the tours across the street then you got on the bus and it takes you across the street for the tour. Elvis airplanes were also there but it was extra to go in those. Several years later when I went back again, each person was given a small recorder with headphones. They didn't have the tour guides anymore. Everybody would start their recorder and it would tell you about the different things about the house and the displays of Elvis memorabilia. There are so many different pieces they switch out from time to time so next time you went, different items were displayed. There's a building behind the house where every article of Elvis memorabilia is stored in temp controlled rooms and they always wear gloves when the items are touched. The tours have gone up in price ALOT since I went the last time.

Actually other than the Kick-Ass music and badass cars the 70s we're so boring and everything was so tacky. There was like zero technology other than a microwave oven that weighed 400 pounds and cost $600. We had three local TV stations and PBS. And they all shut off at midnight. Cable TV didn't even come out till the 70's were damn near over. Same with VCRs There were no video games only pong at the bowling alley which you had to stand in line all day to play it. FM radio didn't even come out till mid 70s ,that was only if you had a really good antenna, so we got crappy AM and we had records (if you could afford a record player) that was it for music. And don't get me started on the clothes. Oh my Lord, the clothes! If girls didn't wear hip-huggers and halter tops you weren't cool. So we would put those on and our hiking boots and walk a mile-and-a-half to the bowling alley, stand around for an hour or two, saw there was nothing going on so we turn around and walk a mile-and-a-half back home. Sometimes I would be so bored I wanted to gouge my fucking eyes out just for something to do. If it wasn't for the cheap weed and 18 year old legal drinking age, We wouldn't have lasted through the seventies. Then came the 80s...........

Actually think about it before the internet and stuff you might have a question about something but unless somebody new the answer it was unlikely you were going to go to the library and get the answer. Not that everything is Gospel but you can find out the answer about anything nowadays instantly. That I love. You may know this, but, it is said that Linda Thompson, his long term girlfriend after his divorce worked with an interior designer on the TV room where Elvis had no input other than wanting 3 televisions. She’s responsible too for the remodel of main upstairs living room and Peacock stained glass. But all of that remodeling heavy in reds, furniture and carpet were reverted back to what you see today. All of the chandeliers big and small throughout the home were all shopped for at a local lighting store by Elvis personally at a private shopping appointment in the middle of the night.

That is so crazy for into being storage when they could have left it in the house or put a storage in their backyard and put the things in there it just doesn't make sense if they move the stuff out so they can stay there whenever they come in town then they need to get a hotel

I doubt that’s true lol. It’d be much more practical for them to stay in a hotel. Why would they want to stay in a museum… with all those reminders?

According to Angie Marchese, who's in charge of archives at Graceland...everything upstairs is exactly the same. She said it just looks as if he just got up one day and left...even his books are still on his bookshelf. She did tell me that, for preservation purposes, his clothes have been taken out and put in archives. She said even things in his dressers are still there, and if anything is ever taken out and put on display, after the display is over they put it right back where they got it.

@@jenny9139 it was their home before it was a museum lol. Why would they not enjoy going back and seeing it while in town

@@jesshopper2718 i just think it would give a lot of reminders, maybe not necessarily good ones. that may just be my personal experience with how i felt about my house growing after one of my siblings died in it. it just changes the way you view it. That’s not to say that they wouldn’t necessarily enjoy going back to see it again sometimes, they probably do. I mean, it still was their home at one time

There's really no particular smells. It doesn't smell musty or like old smelling.

It didn’t really have a strong scent or anything, but it had some old house smell to it. Idk if that was just me, or the fact that they had had some flooding in some areas around the time I visited.

It doesn't seem like much by today's standards, but who didn't love Elvis? I read about one of his guards who asked what he would like and he said he would like to just go one day a around town where nobody knew him. like an ordinary person. He was very lonely because he couldn't go anywhere without constant attention which actually made him made him lonelier. I believe he's in heaven now and God promises that will never be alone again.
