He was just the most wonderful human being....went on and made a huge donation towards the building of the memorial...So many things touched His heart..... and what a generous heart He had !!!

You can tell he's taking it seriously by the look on his face & the way he's listening to the Navy men explaining the wreck. He's not there for some dumb publicity stunt. This was important to him.

Exactly. I think he was the only one of his group of people, that looked like they were seriously involved in the moment of history.

I don’t understand why this video doesn’t have more views. It is incredible Elvis history! How did you get this amazing footage. It looks so much more mature from when he did the benefit concert that helped to regenerate the interest in the memorial to a couple years later. Thank you for posting this. I am glad this came across my feed! Do you have any more videos that are rare?

I always liked the fact that Elvis had a deep regard and respect for the military. You can tell he is very serious and solomn here. Just think it was a little more than 20 yrs at that time that the Pearl Harbor attack happened. Still pretty fresh in their minds I would think. I wonder what Elvis would have thought of 9/11? I bet he would want to go and volunteer to help or do a memorial concert for the victims families. Not trying to be political. Just a thought.

How can anyone give thumbs down, looking at history. The song fit, they felt alone, no one is there to help... wouldn't they feel the same if they (thumbs down people) where drowning and no help????

I have been to this memorial, and it is the most moving experience I've ever had to such an awful event. I had no idea Elvis had donated to this cause. I had no idea I would have stood in that same spot as Elvis, the closest I'd ever be to him. But somehow I'm glad. As I think Elvis would not want the publicity for this to over shadow the enormourty of what happened. There is a plaque now placed only last week at the Polynesian centre.
