Interesting video. One minor nitpick on style: You could have held the final frame for a few more seconds as a final overview. Stopping on that part is a bit difficult since the video immediately ends afterwards

I'm upset why you treat the various US states/territories separately and not for example those of Brazil or Mexico, or also Swiss cantons or other self-ruled lands of Europe like the Basque Country, where AFAIK it was all the time yellow or green until Spanish Fascism took over.

Also why is Africa treated as an agglomerate when it was split in many nations before the c. 1900 colonial partition? It should be treated as many different polities and each one surely has a well known legal statute in each period. Africa is not a "blank map", it never was.

@@mappingshaman5280 - Regardless. If you don't have data, leave it blank ("no data") and do not pretend that nearly all Africa was a homogeneous chunk with the worst possible conditions (not the case surely in many areas).

I have actually researched African customs and found that in every place customary law allowed forced marriages of children

@@the_borys - Really? I'm extremely surprised knowing that in many parts of Africa matrilineal kinship was the rule (and may still is to this day). Granted that there were also many countries like Swaziland (or whatever its name is now) where a tyrant patriarch king rules in terms absolutist, but other countries were very different, as illustrated by Nzinga of Ndongo-Matamba (later known as Angola), who did not just rule but also chose her own marriages.
