Professor Ashish Nandy's controversial viewpoint that the Essence of India is not in education draws sharp reactions from panelists. Watch more videos: www.ndtv.com/video
Nandy's data is correct in the sense that educated people in cities tend to be more communal than the uneducated, but this has to do with how we define education. What purpose is an education if the educated brain is easily influenced? In fact, most of these so-called educated people are not really 'educated' but skilled labourers at best.

Fali Nariman thinks riots in India started after Babri demolition. What do I say after that?

He is wrong, he is forgetting about the segregation in rural areas, where rival groups don't interfere. There are tensions, but interference is less compared to urban regions. The positive correlation between communalism and education is wrong and wrongly interpreted by him.

he has extensive data and written about segregation in Urban India for 30 years too. and the data shows it is more in Urban india. Unfortunately urban India has a MEDIA voice and rural India doesn't.

@@askaichin as interpreted from his words here, it seems he is ignoring, the less interference factor in rural areas, and further, correlation doesn't imply causation.

@@devarya8963 He isn't a good speaker so gather what you can from here, but given his writings and research, he isn't ignoring that at all, in fact he is counting that and various other parameters including human ecology. Secondly this is not an analysis, but a negation of the ignorant Correlation between education and riots given by the panelists. He is saying it's not true as data doesn't say so. He is saying there is no data to prove education has anything to do with violence.

@@askaichin oh, I haven't read his works. Emphasis on education being bogus is a pretty big statement, and on the basis of which he seems to be saying this statement seems to incorrect analysis.

@@devarya8963 well you either need to draw the same conclusion about the debate and the panelists' opinion to which this is a response of, or you are falling for a confirmation bias - which means you never questioned that education is good to prevent violence when that was said, but you questioned the reverse. Not to mention anything about the rhetorics here - irony, contradiction etc. But forget about rhetorics of a debate, concentrate on the logical falacy of your argument.
