are you sure this is Emerald Beaut? I have never seen red blush on EB even when it is fully ripened. Also, you description of the texture is interesting. While it is crisp when it starts to ripen, a well-ripened EB does get soft and yellow. Your description sounds more like Flavor Grenade pluot which has the same ripening window. Of course, there are differences in our climate (I'm in Nor. Cal) which could also result in the differences above. Worth checking

I believe it is Emerald Beaut. There is significant confusion around the Emerald Beaut and Emerald drop pluot, but after reading about it I believe this is the correct variety. I ordered it from a reputable website as well. Take a look at this link where it is discussed further. You can never really be 100% certain though. growingfruit.org/t/emerald-beaut-plum/12438/48

@@Boisefruit one of those in that thread who got Emerald Drop instead of Emerald Beaut is me :) But they do have different ripening times so I could detect the wrong label sooner. In your case, Flavor Grenade and EB have overlapping window. The crunch is the unique feature of Flavor Grenade and together with the red blush made me think this sounds more like Flavor Grenade than EB.

Do you find the emerald beaut plum to be freestone? I see it reported online to be a freestone but I've never had a freestone Japanese plum.
