Oh man... my favorite part was when you said “I’ve done this countless times over the years” 😂 I live in 100 year old farm house and can relate to that statement. It’s been averaging something like two or three plumbing repairs per year for my two decades of residency.

@PeanutButterMan, that’s actually the video which lead me here. I had some freeze damage impacting copper and PVC during that arctic blast a few days ago. I’m thinking about replacing the copper portion with pex. Initially I was planning to go with all rigid PVC, however the eccentric layout doesn’t lend itself to right angle. It was funny, when I went to the hardware store to pick up a few parts, about 80% of the people exiting the store were carrying plumbing components. It was so cold. 🥶

Thanks! My pipe looks exactly like yours, and I didn't know what to do about the rust. Going to try this tonight while I wait for the plumber to come out in a couple of days. Thanks again!

Good thing you finally bypassed that old pipe cause rust never sleeps...as they say in old car restoration ..........

Lowe’s doesn’t look like they carry it anymore as their website says not available in my store and not available for delivery. Any idea where else to find this. The Internet search I did came back with results for the stuff at $15 or more per pack.

I bypassed all those old pipes about a year ago so I haven't needed any tape since then.. Looks like Lowes has switched to FiberFix repair tape in place of DuraPower which was $9.99 per pack the last time I bought it off the shelf... My H.Depot carries FiberFix only as well.. May have to pay$15..

I know that this is a old post but warning with using FiberFix it's only rated for 60 PSI!!!!

CCdude I ended up going with a new section of pipe and some couplings instead of FiberFix

No. What you see in the video is the only type of repair I've made using this tape..

Thank you sir, I'll go back back under the house and keep on digging. Hopefully when I find it, the pipe won't have a thick layer of mineral deposit stuck on the pipe. Its been hard so far to find.

If this will hold up on a supply line, then I have confidence that I can use that tape for a cast-iron drain pipe. Maybe?

Very likely it would work on a drain pipe I would think..
