I’d choose a model airfield in favour of an agricultural field any day. At least you know that there are no nasty surprises hiding in the grass , and, You stopped in the length of their strip anyway.so , well done. Cheers from Australia.👍🇦🇺😷😷

Das ist genau das warum ich unsere Fliegergemeinschaft so liebe. Da landet man mal eben bei den Kollegen und wird gleich auf ne Grillwurst eingeladen. Und sicherlich gab es auch genug helfende Hände um den Flieger kurz aus dem Weg zu rollen.

as an rc pilot, let me tell you these kind of things are wellcomed at anytime. thats why we mantain our runways and fields in general👍👍👍 paragliders also land on my local rc airfield so we keep radios on hand at all times

@@uhertlein I did not operate any of those radios since I do not posses the amateur ham permit, but I know we used a sepparate freq for comunication between the paragliders and us and also kept an ear on the neraby airfield freq, on two separate radios

Macht man natürlich nicht absichtlich, aber irgendwie, glaube ich für alle ein Spaß! Manche Landungen an ungewöhnlichen Orten habe einen besonderen Reiz, was Thermikflieger dort schon alles erlebt haben! Ich bin einmal mit meinem Gleitschirm bei Weinbaurn zwischen den Reben gelandet. In Valdodiabene, die Bauern waren wohl der Meinung ich brauche eine Stärkung und haben ihre Weinvorräte heraus geholt. Oje, das bei 35 Grad im Schatten und ein paar Stunden in der Luft.. Und so hab ich mich dann auf den Weg gemacht, zu unserem Campingplatz in Bassano, mit der Ausrüstung auf dem Rücken bin mit allen möglichen Verkehrsmitteln unterwegs gewesen und auch gelaufen. Spät abends hat man mich dann empfangen und zum Glück waren noch Reste vom Grillen übrig geblieben. Eines von vielen solcher Erlebnisse, die ich immer wieder gerne erzähle.

Da braucht man keine Angst haben. Wir Modellflieger wissen alle, das die manntragenden Fliegerkollegen immer Vorfahrt haben. Wenn man so eine Notsituation sieht, heißt es immer: PLATZ SCHAFFEN, BIS ER GELANDET IST. Hatten wir bei uns auch schon. Haben einen notgelandeten Segelflieger betreut, bis er abgeholt wurde. DAfür bekamen wir ne Sonderstunde in Seglertechnik, inkl. Probesitzen.

You can bet one of the RC'ers will be a future glider pilot after that. Modeling is an amazing hobby. Glider flight is just next level. I took a discovery flight years ago and got to handle the controls. I'll never forget it. Contemplating a pilots license next and still trying to decide sail plane first or single engine? Amazing sport. NICE LANDING!

Sailplane first. All skills are transferable to power but I think you get more instincts, stick and rudder skills, and weather knowledge.

I mean, it would've taken like a minute to move the glider off the runway AFTER landing. Dunno why he avoided the runway and landed on the grass instead. Perhaps more familiar with soft-field

@@suzukirider9030 Gliders normally land on grass. There are several reasons other than that though: a softer field means a shorter landing roll, he may’ve wanted to avoid any things that might be on or over the runway, such as large models, or, he might’ve just wanted to park over to the side as he eventually did.

Exactly, landing on that runway would cause less rolling resistance - and I wanted to land as short as possible on this short field... Pulling to the right was done without any purpose...

Super coole Außenlandung - und dann sogar noch mit Bewirtung... Perfekt! Bei meiner letzten Landung auf nem Modellflugplatz gabs immerhin Bier. Der Anflug sieht interessant aus , fast wie ein Flugzeugträger... - da darf man auf keinen Fall "zu kurz kommen"... Souverän eingeparkt - Daumen hoch!

Good job, and great story. Interesting area, that’s east of Osnabruck where the RAFG pilots used to always refer to the ridge there during the low level sorties over the north German plains.

Sehr schönes Video! Bei uns auf dem Modellflugplatz durfte ich auch mal eine Außenlandung miterleben. Segler bzw. Flieger aller Art sind grundsätzlich immer willkommen, da es natürlich sehr interessant ist für die Modellflugpiloten, ihre Flugzeuge mal in Originalgröße zu sehen.

I looked up your profile out of curiosity after seeing your comments on the ATR landing in Colombia and discover that - not only are you a glider pilot like me - you also know how to sideslip. Not many people seem to do this in modern gliders (I used to do it a lot in K6, K8 and K13). Nice job.

Thank you! I'd learned in the good old days with Ka7, Ka8 and Ask13 so this is really nothing special. If you know the DG100, DG 300 planes, there are really good for sideslips - in this video I only do it a little because more was not necessary. If you really NEED, you can throw this DG300 nearly in a 90degree sidelip with really impressive sink rates! - exactly like the old wooden planes :-)

Das erinnert mich an den Modellflugplatz, auf dem ich öfter war. Rund um die eigentliche Wiese war sehr viel freie Fläche und der Platz tatsächlich auch Außenlandeplatz für den lokalen Flugplatz. Wobei ich es nicht mitbekommen habe, dass da auch wirklich mal jemand landen musste.

It's an audible signal that lets you know if you're going up or down, so you can find patches of rising air without looking at the instruments. It is also more responsive than the altimeter, so you can react quicker to changes in lift. If I recall correctly the instrument that makes the noise is called a Variometer, or 'Vario'.

@@Mediumdave1983 Correct :). Paragliders use them as well. The lower the pitch of the beeps the faster you are descending. The higher the pitch the faster you ascend :). Nothing means you are either perfectly level og descending with your "normal" descend rate if nothing were to accelerate it.

Ich verstehe echt nicht wie manche Piloten es aushlaten mit eingeschaltetem E-Vario zu landen... Spätestens nach der Position geht mir das einfach nur noch auf die Nerven und für mich gehört es fast zur Landecheckliste das Sch.... Teil dann auszuschalten... Aber im Flug ist es definitiv ne Super Hilfe keine Frage!!!

Ein Glück, das wir ein selektives Gehör haben.. Ich verschiebe den Sinkton in den Nebegeräuschebereich. Beim Fliegen heist es immer First Things First. Erste Regel, fly the Glider, wenn dann noch Möglichkeiten sind, dann kann man sich ja um die Akustik des Varios kümmern. Aber hier war für solch Nebenbei meiner Meinung nach, keine Zeit mehr.

Graf Zeppelin die Position ist der Punkt an dem man im Gegenanflug auf der Höhe des "lande T " sich zur Landung meldet .bsp Dannstadt D-3930 an der Position zur Landung Piste 05 Festes Fahrwerk .Hinter der Position setzt du den Gegenanflug dort und drehst je nach verfügbarer Höhe früher oder später in den Queranflug und dann in den endanflug ein (wichtig endanflug nicht endteil :P ). Geb bei Google Bilder einfach Platzrunde ein und du siehst was und wo die Position ist. LG Linus

He has a very short field to work with here, he wants more rolling resistance not less. Landing in the grass probably shortened his rollout considerably.

No, you can bet that the grass around the model field was the safest. The glider lands in a short distance. That single wheel does not do well on a plowed field in comparison. Wonderful landing. I'll bet the hobbyists at the field had a good time.

not even emergency... in gilders we call it outlanding wich is quite common... cause u are deemed by the elements if u dont find any thermals u look for a suitable field... there is no emergency

Unser Modellflugverein war früher ein teil des Segelflugvereins, daher kennen sich viele Modellflieger und Segelflieger untereinander. Leider Ist die Bahn an unserem Modellflugplatz nicht breit genug für einen Manntragenden Segelflieger, vor Allem, wenn rundum Maisfelder sind. 8-10m große Modellsegler gehen gerade noch so.

Glider landings are by nature usually smooth. You basically fly it all the way down, you don't really force anything to stick your tyres.

Ok alle antworten: 1. Die Kamera ist auf dem Instrumentenbrett montiert bzw hinter ihm auf der Linken seite. 2: Kopf? xD Das da vorne links ist sein linker schuh den er am linken fuß auf dem linken Seitenruderpedal hat. Ps.es sind Nike schuhe. 3. Da die Haubenverschlüsse auf höhe des Piloten liegen und nicht vorm Instrumentenbrett 4. Das ist keine Pflicht und da der Faden direkt vor dem Piloten liegen sollte sieht man diesen auch nicht. 5.und schau das /watch?v=jeYAIN_VYCM (vom Boden gefilmt)

"Landing out" in a glider is not that un common. Usually its a farmers field. A nice manicured RC field would be a luxury.

Ist zwar schon eine Weile her, aber fetten Respekt für diese Landung. Wind falsch eingeschätzt, unbekannte (kurze) Bahn, evtl mehr Adrenalin wegen dem vielen Wasser......

Ich hätte schon fast gesagt, willkommen in Hoya. Da geht es auch direkt nach der Bahn über die Weser.

Most gliders don't do well landing on pavement. Far better to use a grass strip.

Yeah, I thought the same... he clearly avoided it on purpose, IDK why... maybe way more familiar with soft-field?

In the grass there Is more rolling resistance so the plane can stop quicklier
