The use of UAVs in emergency management and response in Ontario can lead to better emergency preparedness and better decision making during emergencies. Increasing the capacity of smaller communities and emergency services across the province with UAV training will allow for more efficient emergency response within their communities and will allow them to support their surrounding communities. Post-disaster, drones assist in assessing response effectiveness and planning recovery strategies. In June, GlobalMedic conducted a training seminar for drone pilots from four First Nations communities, and provided them with drones and equipment to help them protect their communities.
