German emergency vehicles responding
A serious accident involving three trucks occurred on eastbound highway 99, the ring road around the Bavarian capital city of Munich. Further accidents happened on the westbound lanes, at a time the highway was completly shut down in both directions ... during the afternoon rush hour. At Eastbound Allach Highway Tunnel was opened only temporarily to let a few vehicles through again and again so traffic doesn't back up inside the tunnel. Interestingly there was a completly different sight on both highway routes leading towards the tunnel, merging right in front of it: on highway 99 there was a very nice emergency corridor as it's mandatory according to federal traffic laws, while on the conencting bypass highway 99A they didn't clear the emergency corridor at all. Also on the highway section between the tunnel and the scene of the accident there wasn't any emergency corridor ... quite often there were trucks on ALL lanes. Pretty ignorant in my opinion. There are still emergency vehicles which have to get through, either to get to this scene, or to get to other emergencies or to the hospital. If they let them through, the scene could be cleared faster as well.
Besides some patrol cars from different stations of the Bavarian State Police division Highway Patrol responding to the scene and escorting trucks from a private recovery company, you can also see cars from the Highway Maintenance Authority (orange trucks and red cars with amber lights). Then there's also a brandnew Tower Ladder fresh out from the fire apparatus manufacturer being delivered to a local dealer, and an ALS Emergency Ambulance from a nearby town is transporting a patient to a hospital in the city
