Incredibly beautiful song. I think the reason it was previously unreleased is because Greg's dad had recently died from stomach cancer at the age of 55. I think this song was his way of dealing with it and Keith and Carl (God Love Them) helped him out in recording this to deal with his grief. But it was just too personal and his dad's death to fresh to allow it to be released. All of Greg's ballads were very beautiful. This one though, it's words I'd have said to my dad if I could. He also died of cancer although it was lung instead of stomach. God Bless and Keep You Greg and Keith! Your music lives on with the millions of your fans around the world who still love you. I believe even though you both have left us, you can feel all that love up where you are in heaven. Both forever young and handsome, playing and singing in God's Band.

Maybe they didn't feel like it fit into the ELP formula. This sounds like one of Greg's solo stuff he did with Gary Moore.

No, it was it was recorded during Tarkus. It's on the remastered dvd along with The Unknown Ballad which is on there too. I think Greg played some guitar and maybe some back up vocals on that song, but Keith and Carl did not play on it.

@@Diostillrocks agree with Diostillrocks. This is definitely not ELP material at the beginning of their career. This is the type of ELP that was around in 1976 or so, after works. But this song probably didn't make it to the album because it just doesn't really with with the ELP style.

These cats have been putting down unbelievably great tracks since I was in high school! Greg with King Crimson, Carl with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and Keith with the Nice. A blessing the met, meshed, and put out some great music, and concert tours. Alas, time has caught up on Greg. He;s no longer the brash, extroverted virtuoso, and he's not as melodic from the years of smoking, but they still jam! Put the three of them on stage (see their Live from Albert Hall) and close your eyes!

You have to understand, for someone like Keith Emerson who couldn't even play piano for himself anymore, much less in front of other people that's like a living death sentence. Sure you could say he could have lived another 20 years doing 'normal' activities like everyone else. However, Keith Emerson was not like anyone else. Just imagine the music in his head that he couldn't get out on an instrument anymore. Would have driven him to suicide anyways.
