So many gems from this interview! I love that Emily shares the journey of how she came back and that total humility and submissiveness was required. Sometimes people think, well I can leave for a few years and then just come back not understanding how far into the "mists of darkness" one can go in the following years and then how much work, effort and total humility and submissiveness is required to actually return. It really does feel like a struggle for your soul - until you turn to Heavenly Father (again and again) who can simply dismiss the darkness and envelope you in love and peace and help escort you back to the covenant path. I love how her parents were able to teach her in her youth so that she was able to recognize at some level: "This is less than my privilege". Kudos to her faithful parents, who taught her the gospel in her youth so that was aware that there was more light available in the world and that she was removed from it and needed to find it again. Imagine the people who don't know. I love her analogy of the hair elastic bands on our wrists: we don't know they are there but when we reach for them and they are gone then we really feel the absence. I loved how she was able to help her husband join the church instead of once again falling into inactivity. I'm sure that was a choice and she chose well for herself and all her generations of children. I love that she has this beautiful family! All blessings of the gospel! I'm grateful for the love these two ladies have for people that they would be so vulnerable just so they can help people. I get so frustrated with people these days - but these heartfelt testimonies fill my heart. God bless, ladies. Thank you for sharing your testimonies.

I'm not even half way done but have to say how much I love hearing these types of experiences. I love seeing how the gospel changes lives when we turn to Heavenly Father and the Savior, and I love what Emily said about how special the sacrament is and that by properly taking the sacrament we can be as clean as newly baptized each week. Thanks for sharing!

Emily thank you for putting yourself out there and being vulnerable! That is so personal! But hearing your story has given me hope in some of my children who are off the path that leads to joy and happiness and have been snagged by the ways of the world and the voices of unbelievers. My heart has been broken and I feel like giving up BUT THIS PODCAST that illustrates the PEACE and JOY that comes from living inside our covenants and how we can all change our ways even when we have been away from the gospel for WHATEVER amount of time! That there is always hope and God is always willing to meet us wherever we are at!! Thank you Ashly (sp?) for bringing these uplifting stories to us!! You are the BEST!!♥️♥️

I know that’s true too! I had this creepy, sickening primordial horror nearly every single night of my life for over a decade, and it just wouldn’t go away!! There were some nights that I was so terrified that I would just stay up all night and not sleep because I was so scared to close my eyes because of what I had invited to stay because of my actions. A brother in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who is very dear to me gave me a blessing and it eventually went away! Then I had something both sacred and maybe three times or ten times more horrifying happen because of MY stubbornness and pride…and when I finally humbled myself and called upon God and chose to forgive and not to take offense IT INSTANTLY STOPPED. The Lord has such incredible power and He loves us and helps us! I so testify of these truths, these things, in the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

I totally want to be Emily’s best friend. She has so much life, light, and energy!! There are so many parts of the story that touched me. I loved what was said about the honest feelings of apprehension when the sister missionaries started their lesson, the trust she had, and what came of it. The First Vision has such a special place in my heart. Ever since I was a missionary reciting those words, I get that same feeling Emily described EVERY time. Even during this video! 🥲❤️

I have a question for anyone. I grew up in the church and have never had a faith crisis, im very fortunate, I think I have the gift of faith. I understand the importance of the sacrament, but I've never felt the overwhelming power of it. It seems that usually comes to people who have lived without it. What are any suggestions to be able to make it a more powerful experience?
@carlosenriqueulloa

Study the atonement, and pray for it.
@jilldowding-walker8066
3 ай бұрын
Excellent question! Read the gospel in the New Testament, slowly, deliberately, praying beforehand and afterwards. to increase your understanding of the Atonement. Follow that up with cross referencing all other scriptures that further explain the Atonement. Follow the same pattern of prayer before and after studying. Highlight, take notes, keep a journal just for these studies for yourself to reflect on what you learned, felt of the spirit, and questions you still have. Then, you may want to fast for the 24 hours before the sacrament is blessed and passed. I always take the opportunity to think about the prayers at sacrament and what they mean. I repeat them in my mind as I worship and silently pray. Listen to and talk with your peers and parents, siblings, grandparents, or other trusted advisors, including your bishop. Write out your testimony, add to it, and be conscious and intentional in expressing your thanks for the sacrament. Little and often will ensure that as you look through the lens of Jesus Christ's Atonement, your spiritual clarity will come into focus. May peace and blessings be with you. 😊❤
