I live in NY, so it's not unusual to encounter celebrities. My first encounter was with David Letterman at the height of his celebrity. Did I mention that I was a huge fan. On a quiet Saturday morning, I needed cash, so I found an atm near the UN and stood behind a really tall man. After using the atm, he turned around and we locked eyes. The terror in his eyes was intense. Instead of making anything of his presence, I said "are you done?" He immediately relaxed and responded, "yup." When I heard Cher's voice, I didn't bother turning round. She was shopping with another person and definitely not working. I worked as a cashier in college, and I made Glenn Close laugh. I was muttering under my breath and didn't care who heard me. Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw her bright eye stairing back at me. When it comes to celebrities, I've learned to ignore their celebrity if they aren't working. And they normally respond accordingly. Simon Cowell was the ONLY exception. We locked eyes on a Metro North train and he, nodded and smile in a way to say, "Yes, it's me!" Instead of smiling back, I turned around and walked to the other side of the train car. My training runs deep.

I don't care for rap with cuss words in it. I like music from the 50's to the 80's and maybe part of the 90's. My dad who passed March 8, 1986 had some Elvis records, and others from the 50's, 60's, and 70's and we sold most of them. But, I bought a bunch of 45's and a few big ones at an auction at an antique store near me, and some on ebay, and CD's and tapes at a garage sale near me more recently. I lost my mom June 14, 2022 in the hospital, her lungs were scarred and her breathing got worse. My mom liked to sing to music in the car in the 80's and she would sing along to 80's songs like Whitney Houston, Madonna, Lean on Me by Club Nouveau, Rick Astley, Nothing's gonna change my love for you by Glenn Madeiros (1987), and more. People would wait outside my house all day just to catch me and ask me for money or do something for them. Because I'm always so fuckin kind!!! It's a illness always thinking of others before me!!. But it got annoying I'd have to literally stay in my house most of the time. When I had to do arrands I would literally run to the car!! Do my arrands and run back inside at random ass times!! Just so they wouldn't catch me the whole neighborhood knew I was rich!!! It was annoying!!! My sidewalk would staaaaaaaaaaay shoveled before I even noticed it was snowing!!!! And I wouldn't ask NOBODY to Do it they'd just do it because they knew I'd feel obligated to look out. I totally understand his problems!!!!! It was annoying tho when I went broke I wasn't popular anymore

His music needed to be made. His lyrics needed to be heard. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be so famous that you can’t leave your house without being noticed or spyed on. Everything you do is questioned & commented on. Yes, they choose to be famous but I believe him when he said he just wanted his music to be heard without all the other bs. They choose to be famous but they also are human and make mistakes but their mistakes are out for everyone to see and comment on. I’m sure it’s hard but never worrying about money might be worth it, just sayin. Haha. I’m worrying today about where my next grocery trip is gonna come from…he could own grocery stores lol. I don’t know which would be better but the grass is always greener so they say. We need to learn to be happy where we are, love what we have & be grateful for it. Be well all. In the early 90s, I played in a band that was well known in our region (Tampa Bay and Orlando). We weren't actually famous, but a lot of young people (late teens to late 20s) knew us and came to our shows. After working so hard for a year or so, trying to get attention for our band and our shows, we got to the point that we were often recognized in public. I couldn't go to the local mall or my favorite clubs without strangers coming up and talking to me. I once got interrupted while I was at a restaurant eating dinner with my wife, which was pretty jarring. I was enormously grateful for the people that supported our music, and I always tried to be gracious and considerate with strangers. But I definitely didn't like the public attention all that much. And this was only like 0.0000001% of the kind of attention an actual famous person experienced. I can only imagine the mindf*ck of real fame.

That’s why he created Slim as a defensive mechanism. Put on the act so Marshall can stay private. Then the dark ages , whenever it was 06-08 was rock bottom , it’s crazy you could physically tell he wasn’t looking healthy around that time , super skinny eyes bulgin , sunken face , drug addiction is a bitch for real , it’s even harder to deal with when basically it was your whole persona surrounding drugs and being crazy is what made you so famous to begin with. Getting positive results from destroying yourself , then have your best friend die right in the middle of it, that’s tuff. The music is one thing , but what he’s been through on a personal level , including childhood too , I have the utmost respect for this man , what a crazy triumph, odds stacked against you from birth , and yet you emerge as one of the best in the world to ever hold a mic. 💯 I swear , Eminem and South Park raised me 😂

I don’t blame him one bit. You have fame, but at what cost?Money buys an exuberant amount of things, but it can rob you of your peace and true happiness. We can search for the most expensive thing and it still would not fill the void. Thank you for your honesty and for your music.
