What an interesting emotion this video/song created for me. It felt like somebody who was so deep in a hole of longing for somebody or something, that she was almost becoming manic. The way her voice subtly cracks, it's somebody who is so sad or far removed from joy that they're about to break straight into an artificial euphoria. Like a dopamine depletion rebounding suddenly

I love this stripped down sound. The restraint in Emma’s voice gives it more power than when she lets rip in some of her older work. The video is beautiful, but it’s slightly jarring as it feels like a separate skin or overlay on top of the music. I guess that might be the point. Spending time with ERR’s confessional art is not intended to be a comfortable experience. Edit: The more I watch the video, the more it makes sense as a piece of poetry and it’s the saddest, most beautiful and remarkable song she has ever recorded. I want to cry every time I hear it, for her, for me and everyone. I can’t wait for the album.

What really strikes me the most about this song is the lack of reverb on her vocals. I’m so used to her singing having that hazy, washed out echo, to give that air of mystery in her delivery. Here, you can hear every word, syllable, and breath, so clearly. It’s so raw and utterly heart-wrenching. I’m very interested to hear what she does with the rest of the album.
