I totally agree. They could see the obvious signs that the guy just didn't want to talk as well as him explicitly saying so.

Tom and his little joke. 😅 Drinking will not help with Charles's guilt, it only makes it worse. Like in this case. Tom was just being considerating as he thought their situations were similiar and he wanted to tell him it's still okay to mourn when your shitty parent dies. When Emmerdale teased about Charles secret past, I thought it had something to with him being part of some kind gang or that he had anger management problems. Just because how he handled Alex before. And now this.

Now sure Charles isn’t going to feel better drowning his sorrows … but what was up with _everyone_ taking turns at him and that was even before Carl’s wayward offspring thought he had _any_ right to add his two cents? Like Victor was flawed but Tom’s dad was a real POS, keep walking next time boy because next time you try to lecture someone twice your size you won’t have an entire pub of adults to save you. Sheesh 😒😒😒

@@-B-1 Carl was badly written in his last year or so. His exit was a complete mess- there’s no way he would have attacked Chas like he did, he adored her. It was just a convenient way of getting him out of the way so Chas could be with Cameron.
