I believe this is so deeply moving to so many people, because almost all of us here, have been here many times before. This triggers a deep, soul-recognition that has a frequency we recognize. It’s the recognition of the soul longing for tribe, and the uniquely human need for small, tight knit, community. We are not made to be debt slaves, working ourselves into the ground, barely raising our own children, nuclear families that don’t stay together and extended family all but a distant memory. This is not the lifestyle that speaks to us on a soul level. Our souls are screaming for creative expression, freedom, peace, clarity, love, compassion, and gratitude. Our souls remember the true golden age of humanity, and the haka (along with other tribal traditions) surfaces our longing for all we had and reminds our soul of home, and the deeply sacred family bond that awaited us there.

Because the Polynesians (all Pacific Islander peoples) are the second largest group who are members of the the Mormon church. If you ever went to Hawaii you’d think you were in the pacific islands you see Tongans, Samoans, Fijian, Tahitians, etc. Go to a BYU campus whether in Utah, Idaho, or the Hawaii location and you’ll feel like you’re in the pacific islands.

Wow. What a show of love and respect. I cry every time that i watch these Haka videos. The culture in New Zealand is amazing. I would love to move there and be part of it. America has become a country of no morals and divisional hate.

It's a wonder how such an agressive performance conveys so much love and respect. So much raw emotion! Each time I watch these haka videos I can't help but think that participating in haka must be a truly therapeutic experience. I wish there were some means to learn it outside the Pacific region and do so in a respectful way!

I’m not even a Maori and I run in tears while watching this. When I see how those people are connected to their culture and insanely attached to their families and their ppl … And when that young girl ran in tears while her people doing their performance it showed how much she’s home sick and she misses them alot. All that makes any one get emotional while watching.

I witnessed Haka at an airport in So Cal one time, and all I could do was stand there out of the way and cry. One of the people who performed the Haka came up to me, patted me on the shoulder and was hoping that I was not crying out of fear. I told him that I was just so overcome with emotion with the beauty, passion, & love... and the fact that this culture has not been lost and completely whitewashed by other colonizers who would see it dead. I wound up getting invited to a pig roast they had at one of the beaches; I went and was completely accepted and treated so well with food and love. I will never forget and forever be grateful for meeting these chance strangers at an airport!
